Football – England – League One Betting Tips

Wigan Athletic now seem to have finally found some stability with managers with their former player Gary Caldwell now at the helm at the DW Stadium, and The Latics now sit in fourth place amongst the play-off pack with the visit of Port Vale this afternoon.

Wigan have put together a seven-match unbeaten streak going into this afternoon’s clash which includes wins over Barnsley, Fleetwood Town, Gillingham and Chesterfield along with draws against Scunthorpe United, Sheffield United and Crewe Alexandra.

Wigan’s home record stands at a reasonably solid-looking  8-4-2  24/11 and they’re unbeaten in their last three on home turf with wins over Gillingham and Chesterfield. Goals have come from various sources for Wigan as the likes of Power, Jacobs and Grigg have been amongst the goals so far this season.

Visitors Port Vale came up with all three points last weekend with a 2-1 win away at Doncaster Rovers but they had previously lost to Millwall 3-1 away and were held to a 1-1 draw by Bradford city at Vale Park.

Vale’s current league position of 10th place has been largely due to their impressive home form which has seen them lose just once on home turf all season, but their away performances have been less convincing.

Port Vale’s away record stands at  4-2-9  12/20 and although they’ve registered two recent wins on their travels away at Blackpool and Doncaster, these have been over bottom half opposition while defeats at Walsall, Coventry City and Millwall who all reside in the top six of League One.
