WIMBLEDON v PLYMOUTH – Pick: 1 AH0 – 21 October 2014

Dons to hold their own against Pilgrims

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Tuesday 21st October 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

AFC Wimbledon are another side who have relied on their home form to keep them out of trouble, and it’s been no different so far this season as they’ve won their last three at home on the trot.

Wins over 3rd placed Burton Albion 3-0, 6th placed Morecambe 1-0 and 2nd placed Bury 3-2 proves that The Wombles can deal very effectively with the top teams when they visit their Cherry Red Records Stadium, while their overall home record stands at  3-1-2  12/9.

Wimbledon have also took a point off 7th placed Shrewsbury Town in a 2-2 draw in their opening home match of the season, so that means that they’ve won three out of the four matches against top seven opposition so far.

Forwards Matty Tubbs (8 goals) and Adebayo Akinfenwa (6 goals) look the most likely anytime goalscorers for The Dons.

Visitors Plymouth Argyle have won their last three League Two matches with wins over Shrewsbury Town 1-0 at home, an away win at Tranmere Rovers 1-0 and Saturday’s 1-0 home win over lowly Carlisle United.

Plymouth currently sit in 5th place but again that’s been largely thanks to their form at Home Park where they’ve won five of their seven matches so far. Away from home has been a different story for The Pilgrims with just two wins at Luton Town and Tranmere Rovers, but have suffered defeats at Cambridge United, Bury, Morecambe and Accrington Stanley.

Plymouth’s overall away record stands at  2-0-4  4/6 and they’ve actually won just three away matches in their last eleven on the road.

Wimbledon have shown they’re no push-overs at home especially against top opposition in League Two and I reckon they’re worth a shout with the round ball here at good odds – The Dons might even nick this perhaps 2-1.
