WIMBLEDON v WYCOMBE – Pick: 2 AH+0.25 – 12 January 2013

No home comforts for AFC Wimbledon

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 12th January 2013 – Kickoff:  1500hrs

Third from bottom club AFC Wimbledon take on Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday afternoon as they look to pull away from the trap-door into the Blue Square Premier.

Wimbledon had recently gone six matches without a win but they’ve won their last two League Two matches against Torquay United 3-2 and Rochdale 1-0, but strangely enough both of these wins were away from home and it’s their home form that has been the real concern for them.

On home soil, Wimbledon have won just once in their last eleven home matches and have suffered eight straight defeats during this miserable run of form. Losses to Rochdale, Torquay United, Accrington Stanley, Cheltenham Town, Gillingham, Southend United, Rotherham United and Oxford United has resulted in The Wombles embroiled in a relegation dog-fight and are realistically among five teams who could possibly go down.

Wimbledon’s home record stands at  2-2-8  10/20 and scoring goals in front of their home crowd has been a real problem for them this season; on five occasions they’ve drawn a blank and this includes four of their last five at home.

Visitors Wycombe have put in some varying degrees of form in recent matches with wins over Accrington Stanley 2-0 away, 1-0 at Plymouth Argyle and a 2-1 win over Chesterfield at home last weekend. However, they’ve also lost to Cheltenham Town 0-4 away and a 0-1 loss to Exeter City at home, so it’s not a clear cut thing.

The Chairboys though have only lost twice in their last nine matches and they’ve won three of their last five on the road with an overall away record of  5-1-7  15/24. Okay, not a fantastic away record but remember that they’ve beaten the likes of Rotherham United and Fleetwood Town who both occupy positions in the top seven of League Two.

In summary, both of these teams have put in some inconsistent performances but in view of Wimbledon’s poor record at home, I’ll take Wycombe with the handicap as I believe there’s enough about them to get at least a draw here today; could be either a 1-1 draw or Wycombe might just sneak it 2-1.

Pick:  Wycombe Wanderers AH+0.25 @ 1.75 Pinnacle looks a reasonable option
