Football – England – Conference Premier

Saturday 13th September 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Woking are in cracking form right now and have won their last four matches on the trot in the Conference Premier with wins over Dover Athletic 6-1, Wrexham 2-1 (away), Lincoln City 3-1 and a 1-0 midweek win away at Aldershot Town. This afternoon they entertain lowly Chester at their Kingfield Stadium where they’ll be pushing for a fifth win on the bounce.

Woking’s home form in these early stages of the season stands at a solid  2-2-0  10/3 and they’ve lost just twice in their last twelve matches on home turf, and have no doubt enjoyed flying under the radar as they currently occupy third place in the non-league’s top tier.

Incidentally, Woking have failed to score just twice in their last ten at the Kingfield Stadium and seven of their last nine have involved both teams finding the net (77.77%). With a forward line consisting of Rendell (7 goals), Morgan and Sole (4 goals each), I’m confident that the hosts have at least one goal in them this afternoon.

Onto the visitors Chester then, and Steve Burr’s men are currently sat just two places above the relegation pack with 7 points to their name after the first eight league matches. They’ve won just twice so far this season with a home win over Macclesfield Town 1-0 and their one away win to date was a surprising 3-1 win at Braintree Town.

Chester’s away record currently stands at  1-1-2  7/7 but despite their low league standing, they’ve managed to score in each of their last six away matches in the Conference Premier, and have kept just one clean sheet in their last nine on their travels.

Forwards McConville, Hobson, Rooney and the much-travelled Iwelumo will provide the attacking threat for the visitors today, and they stand a good chance of scoring a goal themselves as well – both teams have scored in all of their four away matches so far.

To sum up, I believe there should be some goals here today with both teams finding the net – Woking should win perhaps 2-1 but expect goals from both sides.
