WOLVES v CHARLTON – Pick: 1 – 24 January 2015

Wolves look for five on the bounce against Addicks

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 24th January 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Wolves registered their fourth Championship win on the trot last weekend when they easily accounted for struggling Blackpool 2-0 at Molineux as Kenny Jackett’s men emerge as one of the dark horses for a possible play-off place come May.

Four straight wins against Watford, Brentford, Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool have lifted Wolves within two league places and just one point shy of sixth placed Watford as the hunt for automatic promotion and the play-offs heat up.

Wolves have been usually pretty solid at Molineux this season in their return to the Championship as they hold an overall record of  7-3-3  17/13 having gained seven points in their last three matches on home turf. This afternoon represents a golden opportunity to extend their winning streak to five matches.

Onto the visitors Charlton Athletic then, and despite currently sitting in 16th place in the second tier, The Addicks are displaying all the traits of a side battling against relegation as they’ve lost four of their last five with defeats against Blackburn Rovers, Ipswich Town, Brighton and Watford with a point against Cardiff City sparing their blushes and avoiding five straight defeats.

On the road, Charlton have lost their last three on the trot (all to nil) and have conceded 10 goals in this sequence as their situation seems to be growing worse since the sacking of former manager Bob Peeters.

Charlton’s away record stands at  2-6-5  10/22, they’ve kept just two clean sheets while failing to score in five to date.

Wolves have the bit between their collective teeth right now and they should grab all three points with a noisy crowd behind them – could be a 2-1 win for the midlanders.
