Wrexham were handed a third defeat in four matches on Saturday when they were beaten 2-1 away at high-flying Dover Athletic which now makes it five games without a win for the Welsh outfit in the National League.
After a promising start to the new season, Wrexham have since slumped to take just two points from the last possible 15 on offer thanks to stalemates against Grimsby Town 0-0 and Tranmere Rovers 2-2 (both at their Racecourse Ground).
The Dragons will gain encouragement though that their home record is a solid-looking 5-2-1 17/8 and they welcome a Guiseley side who have won just once on the road so far this season. Incidentally, only Woking have also won 5 home matches of all the teams situated outside of the current play-off pack.
Visitors Guiseley currently sit in 18th place in the National League following a run of three straight defeats which has resulted in the West Yorkshire outfit sliding down the table towards the bottom four.
Recent losses to Lincoln City, Macclesfield Town and Forest Green Rovers (all to nil I might add) means that they’ll have their work cut out in tonight’s clash in Wales if they’re to get anything out of Wrexham despite the hosts’ recent slump in form.
Guiseley have registered just one win on their travels so far which was a 1-0 win at Braintree Town but scoring goals away from home has been a problem for the visitors amidst an overall away record of 1-4-2 4/7 and they’re the joint-lowest goalscorer away from home in the division.
I will therefore hand the pick to Wrexham who should also cover the -1 asian handicap too in perhaps a 2-0 win for the home side.
