Wycombe Wanderers’ wonderful ten match unbeaten run came to an end away at Exeter City on Tuesday night when they lost to The Grecians 1-2 but they have a great chance of rectifying that disappointing result at Adams Park this afternoon.
Wycombe host League Two strugglers Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday afternoon as they currently sit atop the division but level on points with Burton Albion. The Chairboys’ overall home record though has been solid throughout the season as it stands at 4-2-1 9/5 which includes wins over Carlisle United, Mansfield Town, Cambridge United and AFC Wimbledon along with points against 4th placed Bury and Northampton Town.
Former Wycombe player Gareth Ainsworth knows the club inside out and the current personnel have responded to his style of play accordingly. Former Brentford and Charlton Athletic striker Paul Hayes (6 goals) is the one to look out for in the anytime goalscorer markets for the hosts along with Murphy (5 goals).
Visitors Dagenham & Redbridge have drifted downwards on the League Two ladder and find themselves currently occupying 20th place just three points and three places above the bottom two of the division.
Their form has also dipped remarkably with The Daggers winning just two league matches from their last ten and have lost their last two on the trot against Newport County 0-1 at home and Tuesday night’s 1-3 defeat away at in-form Luton Town. Dagenham’s overall away record stands at 2-2-3 10/13 which actually isn’t too bad, but they’ve lost three of their four meetings away at top half opposition so far.
Wycombe will definitely see this match as a ‘must win’ game as they look to retain their position at the top of the league, and with their good home form behind them, I’ll back them to take the points here, perhaps 2-1.
