WYCOMBE v LUTON – Pick: 1 AH0 – 26 December 2014

Chairboys to deny Hatters at Adams Park

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Friday 26th December 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Wycombe Wanderers head into the pick of today’s League Two fixtures with Luton Town in impressive form having put together a four-match unbeaten run.

Wycombe sit top of the division thanks to three wins from their last four matches with wins against Cheltenham Town, Hartlepool United and Southend United 4-1 along with last Saturday’s point away at Accrington Stanley in a 1-1 draw.

The Chairboys hold a slender two point lead at the top over Shrewsbury Town, Luton Town and Burton Albion so they’ll be keen to keep today’s visitors Luton at arms length to maintain their position at the top of the table.

Wycombe’s home record stands at  5-3-2  15/10 and they’ve lost just once in their last eight at Adams Park which was a 3-1 loss to Burton Albion. The hosts also possess some key attacking players in the shape of Hayes, Cowan-Hall and McClure who have scored a total of 17 goals between them out of Wycombe’s overall total of 36.

Visitors Luton Town have recently produced results of home wins but away defeats in their last five matches with wins at Kenilworth Road over Tranmere Rovers, Mansfield Town and Newport County, but losing away at Burton Albion and Morecambe.

Despite an average away record of  4-3-3  9/11, Luton have failed to win in their last three on their travels with defeats at the aforementioned Burton and Morecambe along with a 1-1 draw at Exeter City. But dig a bit deeper and you’ll find The Hatters have won only once against the better sides on the road out of a total of six matches against such opposition.

Luton striker Mark Cullen (8 goals) is their danger man up front but he’s only scored 3 away from Kenilworth Road.

It appears that Wycombe have hit winning form at just the right time and their attacking personnel should at least earn them a point here – I’ll take the round ball on offer as I also can’t rule out the possibility of a draw either.
