YEOVIL v CARLISLE – Pick: 1 AH-0.25 – 24 November 2012

Yeovil too strong for travelling Cumbrians

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Saturday 24th November 2012 – Kickoff:  1500hrs

Jeckyll & Hyde side Yeovil Town take on struggling Carlisle United at their Huish Park ground on Saturday afternoon as they look to record back-to-back home wins for the second time this season.

Yeovil’s manager, Gary Johnson, must be feeling pretty frustrated at his side’s inability to string together any kind of winning or unbeaten runs after they’ve recently recorded wins over Colchester United, Bury, Shrewsbury Town, Crewe, Hartlepool and Crawley Town but have also suffered defeats to Tranmere Rovers, Stevenage and Swindon Town.

Yeovil Town’s home record stands at  4-1-4  11/11 and one of the factors in their favour is that they tend to perform well against the teams below or around them in the division, but their inconsistency has resulted in them sitting in a mid-table position. The Glovers’ leading scorers are striker James Hayter (6 goals, 2 assists) and Patrick Madden (6 goals, 1 assist), and they also have Sam Foley (3 goals, 4 assists), Jamie McAllister (4 assists) and Gozie Ugwu (3 goals).

Carlisle United travel to the west country in the hope of avoiding a fourth successive defeat on the back of losses to Brentford, a heavy 1-4 loss at home to Leyton Orient and another home loss to Doncaster Rovers 1-3. In fact The Cumbrians have not won in five matches now and their away form currently stands at  3-3-3  10/12 with their wins coming at struggling Hartlepool, Walsall and a Coventry City side who were really on the ropes back in September.

Carlisle’s leading scorer is Joe Garner (6 goals) but I suspect he’ll need more assistance if they are to get anything from Huish Park and they look destined to suffer a fourth successive defeat as there appears to be a lack of punch up front.

Yeovil Town secured a valuable away win at Crawley Town in midweek while today’s visitors lost 1-3 at home to Doncaster – a similar result for each side could be likely here today but I’ll give away the quarter ball for Yeovil to soften the blow if they don’t win.

This could be a 2-1 win for Yeovil Town today

Pick:  Yeovil Town AH-0.25 @ 2.00 Pinnacle represents good value
