Young Boys will be keen to put their midweek Champions League disappointment behind them on Saturday night when the domestic Swiss Super League returns to action.
Young Boys lost 2-0 away at Shakhtar Donetsk during the week in the first leg of the third qualifying round but they’ll be looking to bounce back this evening when they entertain Lugano at their STADE DE SUISSE Wankdorf.
Last weekend was the opening day of the new Swiss season and Young Boys got their campaign off to a great start with a 2-0 win away at St Gallen, and they’ve won seven of their last eight on home turf in the Super League.
Visitors Lugano made a disappointing start to the new Swiss campaign with a 2-1 defeat at home to Luzern, and they now face a tough challenge of getting something out of Young Boys on their own turf, particularly when you consider where they finished up in the division at the end of last season.
Lugano ended up second from bottom of the Super League and avoided relegation by just one point as FC Zurich suffered the agony of going down for the first time in 26 years. Lugano’s away record last season finished up at 3-4-11 21/44.
Along with St Gallen, Lugano possessed the worst away record in the division, and they also conceded the highest number of goals on their travels too, so it may well be difficult for them to contain the hosts Young Boys this evening.
