2013 Shanghai Masters Snooker Betting Info
The third ranking tournament of the 2013 snooker season will be the Shanghai Masters. Betting for the outright winner has already been pretty active and with a massive purse up for grabs for the winning player, the action at the Shanghai Grand Stage should produce plenty of snooker betting value for you.

Neil Robertson, out and out takes ascendancy here for your snooker betting. He has been to the final of the two ranking events so far this season, winning the Wuxi Classic against John Higgins and then missing out in the final of the Australian Goldfields Open to Marco Fu. Not only did he go well in China at this season’s Wuxi Classic, he won the China Open towards the end of last season as well, so seems to like it out East. Robertson has consistently been one of the best players in the ranking tournaments over the last year or so, and takes an edge in the market at 5/1 with online bookmaker Bet Victor.

2013 Shanghai Masters Snooker Betting Tips
The defending champion taking centre stage will be Scotland’s John Higgins, who will be looking forward to a return to China. As the Shanghai Masters is the second ranking event to be held in China this year, Higgins can look back to his run to the final of the Wuxi Classic earlier this year for some confidence. He was beaten in the final there by Neil Robertson, and after not even making it to the second ranking tournament of the year, the Australian Goldfields Open, he’ll want to prove himself again. Although on the back of his win at the Shanghai Masters last season, he has reason to be confident.

History won’t be on his side though as no player has ever won the Shanghai Masters back to back. So that may give an advantage to someone else. Granted the tournament is still in its relative infancy, only starting back in 2007. So bettors may instead decide to lean towards young Judd Trump instead. Trump was last year’s losing finalist of the Shanghai Masters, going down to John Higgins in the final only on a deciding frame. Now, he hasn’t won the title there before but he has motivation, because on his earlier visit to China this season in the Wuxi Classic he went out in a first round shock exit against a home grown talent Li Hang. Not only that, Trump didn’t get to the second ranking event of the season in Australia either.

While Trump needs to step up his ranking game therefore, Mark Selby may be a more solid bet. He should be up there alongside Trump and favourite Robertson. Unlike Trump, Selby has tasted success at the Shanghai Masters before, wining the title back in 2011 against Mark Williams. Selby did even worse at the Wuxi Classic this season than Trump did, losing in the qualifying round there against Andrew Pagett. He was back in top form though with a run to the semi finals of the Australian Goldfields Open. So being a past winner and decent form, Selby should be a threat for the 2013 Shanghai Masters.

Those are the bulk of the main threats represented in the 2013 Shanghai Masters snooker odds at Bet Victor. Really there are four strong players in Higgins, Selby, Trump and Robertson who you will look for first of all for your snooker betting. But just as Marco Fu took the Goldfields this season, the upsets happen fairly regularly. You can therefore consider longer shots like Ding Junhui on his home soil, Barry Hawkins, Graeme Dott and Shaun Murphy.
