ATP World Tour Finals – Catch the action on Bet365

November 24th, 2009 / Lee A Jackson

Tennis: It’s the game the London 02 arena has been waiting for, and it is probably a shame that it is not the final. The ATP World Tour Finals are into the second round of the round-robin format, and it is Britain’s own Andy Murray squaring off against World Number One Roger Federer. Murray beat Juan Martin del Potro in his first match, seeing off the US Open Champion in three sets, to thrill the home crowd. Murray has always had the upper hand over the Argentine, and del Potro’s wrist injury which has been hampering his progress since winning the major (something which Murray has yet to do) will probably see him struggle to get out of the group. That’ll put Murray in good spirits, as two wins should be enough to get past the group stage.

The atmosphere inside of the O2 Arena is a far cry from the stuffy atmosphere of Wimbledon. With loud music playing, a large TV screen and the electric atmosphere of being indoors, it has made the event fully entertaining for the capacity crowd. It is being heralded as the biggest indoor tennis event ever, and that is a credit to the ATP Tour and the O2 Arena, putting on a good show for London, hosting the finals for the first time. The longer that Andy Murray stays in the competition, the better it will be for the tournament organisers.

Andy Murray, ranked number 4, is in Group A along with Roger Federer, del Potro and Fernando Verdasco. Murray and Federer both won their opening matches, and it will be the top two from both groups which proceed through to the semi finals. In Group B, eighth seed Robin Soderling caused an upset by beating Rafael Nadal, while Novak Djokovic beat Nikolay Davydenko in their opening match. By defeating del Potro, Murray has made a clear statement about his intent to go on and take this tournament, which is the finale of the ATP tour year, with the eight highest earning players qualifying for it.

TO WIN ATP WORLD TOUR FINALS

Roger Federer – 9/4 at SkyBet
Novak Djokovic – 12/5 at Paddy Power
Andy Murray – 11/4 at SkyBet
Robin Soderling – 12/1 at Totesport
Nikolay Davydenko – 25/1 at Sporting Bet
Rafael Nadal – 28/1 at Sporting Bet
Juan Martin del Potro – 28/1 at Sporting Bet
Fernando Verdasco – 80/1 at Boylesports

Roger Federer is always the one to beat whenever he shows up for a tournament. His next match against Andy Murray should be a great match, and one of the highlights of the tournament so far. Murray should have nothing too much to fear, because it was the Scot who knocked Federer out of last year’s tournament. That will mean that Federer is probably out for revenge, and the Swiss native needs to win the tournament to make sure that he finishes at head of the rankings. Remember, if you want to catch all the excitement, get onto Bet365 and enjoy their live streaming service, with 12.30pm and 7pm streams happening all week.

Roger Federer v Andy Murray
