There are some terrific moneyback offers available on betting for the 2013 Australian Open. Unibet will refund all losing stakes with a free bet up to £50 if Andy Murray wins the men’s singles while Betway are offering to refund all losing outright bets, again up to £50, if the Scot proves successful. BetVictor has an identical offer on the table but Coral are concentrating of Roger Federer and will refund up to £100 on outright singles bets if the Swiss wins the final.

All the above are well worth considering as it’s not as if Murray and Federer have no chance of dethroning Novak Djokovic. The world number one maybe bidding for a third successive win in the first Grand Slam of the season but if the world’s top three all play to their full potential (Rafa Nadal isn’t fit enough to take part in Melbourne) there is virtually noting between them and it will just be a matter of who has the most energy and luck on the day. The Serb claims he is in peak form ahead of the Australian Open, despite a surprise Hopman Cup defeat by Bernard Tomic, but you aren’t getting much value at Skybet‘s 5/4.

Who will win the (Womens) Australien Open 2013 ?

Murray will really want to kick on this year after a remarkable 2012 in which he won gold in the Olympics, won the US Open and reached the final at Wimbledon. He was losing finalist, firstly to Federer and then to Djokovic, in Melbourne in 2010 and 2011 and was unlucky to lose to the latter in the semi-finals last year. He looked in fine form when successfully defending his title in the Brisbane International two weeks ago and will attract plenty of interest at the general 11/4.

But there may be one big year left in Roger Federer and he may well be capable of putting down a marker to his younger rivals in the year’s first Grand Slam. Though the Swiss has had his problems against Djokovic and Murray recently, hard courts and the biggest tournaments usually inspire him to new heights and he’ll be thereabouts if he’s able to coast through the early rounds without too much hassle. At a general 5/1, he has to be the bet ante-post.

Such is the gap currently between the top four and the rest that it’s difficult to recommend another but if anyone is going to break their monopoly in the Grand Slams this year, it might be Milos Raonic. The Canadian needs to build up his speed around the court but his huge serve will be a potent weapon in Melbourne and New York and he can be backed at 132/1 on Betfair to win the 2013 Australian Open men’s singles.
