Coca Cola Championship Injuries/Suspensions Team News – 26-27 September 2009
 
Scunthorpe United v Doncaster Rovers
Scunthorpe defender Rob Jones(1asst) is pushing for a recall and may replace Niall Canavan. Midfielder Sam Togwell(1gl) is also pushing for a start.
Winger Garry Thompson should also return from a foot injury, but Ben May and Kenny Milne both remain sidelined.
Leading scorer Gary Hooper(4gls,1asst) is doubtful, so Jonathan Forte(1gl,2assts) is set to continue up front with Paul Hayes(1gl,1asst).
Doncaster skipper Brian Stock(1asst) will be missing until the end of the year with a knee injury.
Former Scunthorpe striker BillySharp(1asst) is looking to bite the hand that once fed him when he lines up against his former club.
James Coppinger and Paul Heffernan will both undergo late fitness tests, and James Hayter(2gls) is also doubtful.

 
Blackpool v Peterborough United
Blackpool first choice keeper Paul Rachubka and Hameur Bouzza should return after being rested midweek.
However, the Tangerines have several players out injured; defenders Ian Evatt(1gl) and Danny Coid are out, along with midfielder Ishmael Demontagnac,Daniel Nardiello,Gary Taylor-Fletcher(2gls,1asst) and Stephen McPhee could all be missing.
Boro manager Darren Ferguson could name an unchanged squad again as they travel to Blackpool hoping to get something.
Lee Frecklington could earn a recall but winger Dominic Green is out with a dead-leg.
Charlie Lee is a long term absentee and won’t figure again.
 
 
Coventry City v Middlesbrough
Coventry have doubts over James McPake and winger David Bell, and they both look likely to miss the visit of Boro who were thumped 5-0 at home by West Brom last weekend.
Boro welcome back midfielder Gary O`Neil(1gl,3assts) and striker Jeremie Aliadiere(3gls) for the visit to Ricoh Arena.
However, Didier Digard and Emmanuel Pogatetz will not travel with a groin and knee injury respectively.
Also, left-back Andrew Taylor will be out for around 6 weeks due to ankle ligaments injury.
 
 
Derby County v Bristol City
Derby will be missing 5 first team regulars when they host Bristol City this weekend.
Chris Porter,Giles Barnes,Paul Green(1gl),Jake Buxton(1gl,1asst) and Steven Davies(1asst) are all sidelined.
James Vaughan and Darren Leacock are set to continue at Pride Park.
City will probably stick with Adriano Basso in goal as Dean Gerken is still not fully fit, and Louis Carey will also travel.
Otherwise, manager Gary Johnson has a full squad to pick from.
 
 
Leicester City v Preston North End
Leicester await the fitness test of midfielder Richie Wellens(2assts) before naming their side.
Andy King will deputise if Wellens doesn’t make it, otherwise there are no other injury concerns.
Preston will include on-loan defender Neill Collins(from Wolves) in their squad that travels to Walker Stadium.
Fellow defender Michael Hart could be fit, but Callum Davidson(1gl) and Barry Nicholson are both long term absentees along with winger Paul Parry(1gl).
 
 
QPR v Barnsley - Under 2.5 goals
QPR midfielder Ben Watson should return to the side and Hogan Ephraim should be fit following stitches to his head.
Angelo Balanta and Fitz Hall will both miss out though, along with Matthew Connolly,Gareth Ainsworth and winger Lee Cook.
Barnsley have signed three defenders on temporary loans to shore up their leaky defence.
Suad Filekovic,Carl Dickinson and Ryan Shotton all join the club but whether they make the squad is not know at this stage.
Defender Darren Moore is rated 50/50 and Emil Hallfredsson(2assts) is doubtful, but Jamal Campbell-Ryce should be recalled.

 
Reading v Watford
Reading will be missing Chris Armstrong and Radoslav Vasilev as they prepare for their home game against Watford.
However, Ivar Ingimarsson should return as too Jobi MacAnuff and Shane Long is close to full fitness.
Watford on-loan striker Heidar Helguson(2gls) will need to pass a very late fitness test ahead of the trip to Reading.
Watford captain Jay DeMerit should be fit to play after a groin injury and eye infection.
However, midfielder Scott Severin is still out.
 
Sheffield Wednesday v Cardiff City
The Owls have no injury or suspension concerns ahead of their home game against Cardiff.
Wednesday winger Etienne Esajas(1gl) is pushing for a starting place after impressing off the bench in the Sheffield derby last week.
Frank Simek is close to returning but his game will come too soon.
Cardiff will again be without midfielder Stephen McPhail as he completes a 3 match ban.
Ross McCormack,Kelvin Etuhu and Kevin McNaughton all remain sidelined.

 
Swansea City v Sheffield United
Swans striker Stephen Dobbie could be set for a return and midfielder Joe Allen should also return.
Darren Pratley may also figure, but Albert Serran and Guillem Bauza are both sidelined.
Blades’ new loan signing defender Andrew Davies is hoping to extend his loan with the club until the end of the year.
Skipper Chris Morgan(1asst) and Nick Montgomery will face late fitness tests, but Jamie Ward(4gls,1asst) is definitely out.
Defender Matt Kilgallon(1gl) should also travel with the squad.
 
 
West Bromwich v Crystal Palace
West Brom will be without Jerome Thomas(1gl) with Joe Mattock and Marek Cech(2gls) both doubtful.
Influential midfielder Chris Brunt(3gls) remains a major doubt.
Midfielder Mulumbu(2gls) should return, but James Morrison,Neil Clement and Ishmael Miller are all still recovering and won’t be ready.
Palace are giving Freddie Sears and Claude Davis late fitness tests, while Victor Moses(1asst) is pushing for a start.
Midfielder Johannes Ertl may continue, but Stern John and Calvin Andrew are both out, while Matt Lawrence has been transfer listed.
 
 
Ipswich Town v Newcastle
United
Ipswich will recall defender Gareth McAuley for the tribute match to the late Sir Bobby Robson.
Jack Colback(1gl) and Tamas Priskin(1gl) both scored last week and are pushing for starting places. Winger Carlos Edwards is also in contention after a hamstring injury.
Midfielders Luciano Civelli and David Norris are both injured and Ben Thatcher has been dropped after reporting late for training.
Newcastle travel to Portman Rd with new loan signing striker Marlon Harewood in the squad.
Midfielder Joey Barton is out with an ankle injury, Danny Guthrie(1gl,2assts) is suspended while Danny Simpson is a major doubt.
Leading scorer Shola Ameobi(4gls) is still out along with Jonas Gutierrez(2assts).
 
 
Plymouth Argyle v Nottingham Forest – Under 2.5 goals
Plymouth will be without midfielder Luke Summerfield(1asst) as he has joined Leyton Orient on loan.
On loan central defender Shane Lowry is doubtful with an ankle injury.
Skipper Carl Fletcher plays against his former club.
Forest may have Kelvin Wilson back in the squad, but Luke Chambers should continue.
First choice keeper Lee Camp should return, but injured trio Radoslaw Majewski(1gl),James Perch and Julian Bennett all remain injured.
