Cheltenham Queen Mother Champion Chase Best Odds & Favourites

Cheltenham Festival Betting

Cheltenham Queen Mother Champion Chase Best Odds & Favourites are the order of the second day at the Festival. After a cracking opening day, the attention now turns the Queen Mother Champion Chase and the big show down between Big Zeb and Master Minded. The big race of the day gets under way at 3.20pm, as do all the Championship races this week, and Big Zeb has traded the best so far in the Antepost Cheltenham betting for this one. This is the reigning champion and has been in pretty decent form in the run up to the title of his defence, and has knocked out two wins from his last three races. This a proven winner at Cheltenham but hasn’t been out of Ireland since winning at Cheltenham last year. Definitely going to need to be pushed hard to pick up another winner here, after losing his last race to Golden Silver back at the end of January. Barry Geraghty will ride him well though, and are a strong partnership. Still, he is the Cheltenham Queen Mother Champion Chase Favourite, so well worth getting behind. Best Odds on Big Zeb have him trading at 3/1 with Be365.

Master Minded though, will be back for revenge after blowing  his line in last year’s renewal. He is such a strong and classy horse, that he has bounced back from that disappointment with a good stretch of form. Has won his last three races, including a win at Cheltenham, however, doubters will be thinking twice about the conditions under foot not suiting him. The ground at Cheltenham may just be a bit too dry to see the best of him, but is a star performer on his day. Cheltenham Queen Mother Champion Chase Best Odds have him reigned in close to Big Zeb at 7/2 with Boylesports, and that is why the race should all come down to these two. They are the class acts in the field, and Master Minded may just be the more solid of the two bets. Master Minded has been one of the most impressive two milers in his career, and should have the strength to bite back at Big Zeb. While Big Zeb and Master Minded are at the Cheltenham Queen Mother Champion Chase Best Odds & Favourites, there is an interesting support cast ready to get underway behind them.

There is good each way betting value in the chasers to the main two here. Namely Henrietta Knight’s Somersby 8/1 at Ladbrokes, who failed to pick up a win last year, but was always in the top three. He has finished behind Master Minded in his last two races, but at Ascot in January, he was beaten by just a short head. Somersby has largely been let down because he just hasn’t had the overall pace at the end of the day. However, with a good run, there is potential there for a place, and is well worth looking at, trading decently. Sizing Europe is well worth an each way wager here in the Cheltenham Queen Mother Champion Chase. Best Odds & Favourites prices means that he is decent value behind Master Minded and Big Zeb, but is a decent place prospect. Has not been outside the top three in his last six races, including his last when he finished back of Golden Silver. Did come in second behind Kauto Star back in November though. Should be firmly in the chasing pack. Currently trading around 8/1 at Stan James.

Golden Silver is a name which you just can’t escape. You are pretty much seeing him everywhere you look, when you are reading form of other horses. Has been a foe for Big Zeb for some time now, and managed to get the better of him at Punchestown in January. Is that a sign of things to come here? Well, that has made three wins in his last three races now, and looks to be in good shape. Another one who has done most of his running in Ireland this season. The hesitant bettors will point to his less than ideal runs at Cheltenham, and if there is an upset to come in this race, then Golden Silver could well make it. Nonetheless, excellent each way value trading at 11/1 with SkyBet. The other name to watch out for here, could be Captain Cee Bee, as the conditions under foot may just bring out the best in him. Had a poor run in his last race back in December, which was won bi Big Zeb, but is better than that. Has lost to Sizing Europe a couple of time too in the last six races, so he needs to bring his A Game to get up in the places. Still, handily priced at 10/1 with SportingBet nonetheless, to get in amongst the place action.
