Horse Racing Betting – Suruor to Take Inside Track to Success

August 20th, 2010 / paul

After four fantastic days of York‘s Ebor meeting you could understand if the pace slackened slightly going into the weekend’s racing. Fortunately, though, it hasn’t with both Sandown and Chester putting on highly-competitive cards. The valuable race on the Roodeye is the totescoop6 Handicap. Sir Michael Stoute’s Desert Creek is an early doubt but that still leaves 16 runners to battle it out for more than £21,000 in prize money with Richard Fahey’s Brae Hill the current market leader at a general 6/1. The four-year-old was only beaten a nose by Kyllachy Star (11/1 with bet365 and Paddy Power) over C&D three weeks ago but is fancied to turn the tables on his stablemate this time around on fractionally better terms. Brae Hill also has a better draw and a decent course record on his side but he has never won off a mark this high and I’m prepared to take him on with Suruor.

David Simcock had his charge entered in a valuable contest at York earlier this week but decided the ground was too fast and re-routed him to Chester. Though giving weight to all but stable companion Georgebernardshaw (16/1 with William Hill and totesport) at Chester, the gelding has run three cracking races this season including over C&D on his reappearance when finishing ahead of Brae Hill, who is a pound worse off at the weights now. His latest fifth at Ascot was given a boost when fourth, Yaa Wayl, won a Listed race at York next time and connections of Suruor can have no complaints about being allotted stall one, normally the plum draw around Chester‘s sharp turns. William Hill are out on a limb about offering 8/1 against the selection – it may not last too long.

Of the remainder, I think the handicapper may have finally caught up with Camerooney (7/1 with Paddy Power and William Hill) who also has something to prove on ground this soft, while the going may also have gone against Side Glance (7/1 with totesport) though Andrew Balding‘s three-year-old showed he stayed this trip at Ascot and is relatively exposed. Tamaathul ( a general 8/1) falls into the same category but Suruor is taken to repel the young guns.
