Liverpool v Newcastle Betting Odds, Preview and Predictions
A good time for Magpies to overturn poor Anfield track record?November 2nd, 2012 / Lee A Jackson
Liverpool V Newcastle Recommended Bet:
Two clubs with some issues that really need clearing up to get them up to their respective next levels. The Magpies go into this match just three points ahead of Liverpool and both have found wins hard to come by this season. Liverpool’s season under Brendan Rodgers has been full of enthusiasm on the pitch with little end result. The manager has stated that he has a terribly thin squad and having to deal with domestic cup matches and the Europa League is not giving him chance to rest his key players. The biggest problem for Liverpool is that they only have Luis Suarez to rely on up front and while he is a bright spark of inspiration, it is a lot for him to carry everything on his shoulders, especially when he courts so much controversy. But Liverpool’s back line has been weak as well, but that is because it has been exposed badly by a lack of cover from the midfield.
The Reds are vulnerable at the back, and the Magpies haven’t been much better themselves with just one clean sheet in the league so far. Boss Alan Pardew will have been delighted to have seen both Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse get on the score-sheet last week as they beat West Brom 2-1. But again they made hard work of things because they haven’t quite clicked this season. They have been slowly getting better in the season, producing better performances but there has been something lacking still. They haven’t won on the road this season either and they have a terrible history at Anfield. But they do have the better attacking options and could be good enough for a draw. A Newcastle +1 Asian Handicap is looking very handy at a price of 41/40 with online bookmaker Bet365.

Liverpool v Newcastle Betting Preview:
At least Liverpool can look at their history against the Magpies and see signs of encouragement. The Reds were shot down in the League Cup during the week against Brendan Rodgers’ former club Swansea City. But, the Reds have not lost any of the last 18 home games against the Magpies and that has to put them in some decent standing. Liverpool have actually won the last seven in a row at home against Newcastle in the Premier League. Rodgers had to thrown on his key players like Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez to try and rescue the game against Swansea, but to no avail. That could work against them with Newcastle being the fresher of the two. While the Reds have won at home just once in the Premier league this season, they are on a four match unbeaten streak in the league in total, which is their longest unbeaten run in the whole of 2012.
Newcastle have better options up front than Liverpool, hands down. Newcastle are showing signs that they are on the up, but have just been failing to convert enough chances or stay disciplined at the back. So room for improvement too for the Magpies, as both sides should be getting more for the way they are playing. Newcastle have drawn their last three matches on the road, so it is not a stretch to suggest that they will get a point out of this. Interestingly, with both Cisse and Ba on the score-sheet in their 2-1 home win over West Brom last time out, that was only the second time they have scored in the same match. Demba Ba has seven of Newcastle’s eleven league goals this season. They aren’t great travellers in the league, without a win in eight on the road in all domestic competitions, but they could be good enough for a point.
