Miss World 2011 Betting Tips, Odds & Preview
Alize Lily Mounter showing well for England!November 3rd, 2011 / Lee A Jackson
Forget the Premier League, the Four Nations and the WGC HSBC Champions Golf and the Breeders Cup Classic this weekend, because there is some serious sports betting to pay attention to over at Earls Court in London. Yes, it is time for 2011 Miss World betting. The Miss World contest is the oldest beauty pageant running on the international stage, now in its 61st edition this year. There has been a strong emphasis on making this year’s event about both beauty and brains, and it is true that most contestants are bilingual and, or are in possession of, or are on their way to getting a degree. So here is our 2011 Miss World betting guide to feast your eyes over. We have gotten all the Fast Track events out the way, these are separate events, such as Beach Beauty, Miss Talent, Miss Sports and so on, and these are part of the preliminary rounds in which the winners automatically qualify for the final round. The winners of those Fast Track events have not been accounted yet, as the suspense will be held until the show itself, but the winners of those events will go straight through to the semi final, so that is a big advantage. It is a little complicated instead of just being a straight out competition between everyone on the night, and viewers may feel like they have missed out on vital parts of the process.
But anyway, let’s get to the nitty gritty of who make take over from the reigning Miss World, America’s teenager Alexandria Mills. So let’s start with the home grown talent, and look at Miss England, otherwise known as Alize Lily Mounter (who is touted to be in the running as the next Bond Girl, and with a surname like that who would bet against it?). Mounter reached the final groups of the Beach Beauty, Top Model and Beauty With A Purpose Fast Track events, so the 22 year old Londoner is looking in pretty good shape. She is trading out at 20/1 with Boylesports, but could represent a decent bit of value here in your 2011 Miss World Betting. Mounter likes the Kings of Leon, so she deserves a place in the final just for that, and she is studying journalism. Really, if you can nab a top ten finish for her, would definitely take it. Miss Ireland, Holly Carpenter, a 19 year old from Dublin is running at shorter value that Miss England though in your betting. Carpenter, who is going to be singing a Corrs song in the final, is a decent outside shot, although everyone really will be hoping that Miss Venezuela trips over on the stage, has a wardrobe malfunction, drops a verbal faux pas or messes up a talent somewhere during the night, because she is the outright favourite.
Miss Venezuela, Ivian Sarcos has been installed as firm favourite in 2011 Miss World betting to win, and the beauty, who looks as if she has just flawlessly stepped out of a classic romantic movie, is worth getting behind. The country has a good history in the event, and Sarcos, one of a dozen siblings owns a degree in human resources. Hers is the name on everyone’s lips, and as she reached the finals of the Beach Beauty and Top Model, wouldn’t be too surprised to see her fast tracked to the semi’s from one of those. She already seems to be the star attraction and you can’t seem to get away from her presence, and that is just the vibe and the influence which should influence things at the end of the day. She still needs to go in there and win it from a big field, but she is definitely one of the front runners. But you can pencil in Miss Puetro Rico as well, who is not getting anywhere near as much attention in the world press as Miss Venezuela (it is important to stay on top of these things). Amanda Vilanova is the name, a 19 year old from San Juan who is at least standing up well in the betting, even if she, like everyone else is being overshadowed by Miss Venezuela in the popularity contest. Vilanova wants to get a PHD in literature so that she can be a poet and an actress and is no stranger to winning beauty pageants (albeit in her home country). Still, think she should easily be inside the top ten, so too probably Miss USA. Can the USA defend their Miss World tile? Don’t think so, but could be in the running for the top ten, as they have gone for a sultry girl next door type in Erin Cummins (could be another James Bond girl). Anyway, she, along with Miss Hungary and Miss India looks as if they could spring a surprise package on the night and take the title of Miss World 2011.
But we are going to dig a little deeper down the list to pick out our top tip for 2011 Miss World betting, as we are going to suggest a look at Miss Russia, Natalia Gantimurova. The 20 year old, who speaks three languages brings what we feel could be the complete package to Earls Court. She wants to work on diplomacy in international fields, and likes indie rock and literature which should always score big points. She is out there as an outside shot in your Miss World betting odds, but think she could genuinely be a winner here. So we are going to back her, and Miss Philippines who is an even longer shot than Miss Russia. However, she has been in blistering form leading up to the 2011 Miss World event (always good to study form, see) as she has gotten very used to winning pageants. This is Gwendoline Ruais, somewhat unique and mysterious in looks being half Filipino half French, and she has made it to three of Fast Track Finals, the Beach Beauty, Beauty With A Purpose and Top Model, and that does say something about her chances. She was elected best debater at the Human Rights Council, being part of the Model United Nations, and makes for a fantastic outside bet given her price for the competition. She would be looking to at least emulate fellow country woman Shamcey Supsup who landed a 3rd runner up spot at this year’s Miss Universe.

2011 Miss World Betting Tips: Well, hard to look past Miss Venezuela and the ripples of betting interest which she has been creating. So she is probably going to be worth a punt as she is favourite with the bookies across the board. Really think that Miss Russia and Miss Philippines are totally capable of being a dark horse and steaming across the finish line, in particular Miss Russia (who contested Miss Universe this year). As for our home grown talent, well Miss England we believe is well priced and could come closer than many may give her chance of. The finals take place at Earls Court on November 6th.
