Next England Manager Betting extended until end of season

FA drag heels over appointment

The saga of the Next Permanent England manager betting is now going to rumble on until the end of the domestic season. The FA came out and said that they are not going to give the job to anyone until the back end of the season. England lost a midweek friendly against the Netherlands, as Stuart Pearce took charge. Pearce has said that he could lead England at Euro 2012, but has ruled himself out as being a long term option for the job. The FA apparently have a list of potential employees, but because most of them are employed at the moment, and the FA doesn’t want to stick their nose into the domestic scene. It is a strange situation, because there really won’t be much time for any new manager to come in and actually get a squad prepared for a major championship, if the FA wait until the end of the season. Whoever comes in could just have a month to get things up together for England’s Euro 2012 campaign. It doesn’t sound like an ideal scenario at all.

The FA have also admitted that they haven’t even spoken to anyone about the job, so as to who will succeed Fabio Capello, really is all up in the air. It’s not exactly instilling a lot of confidence in the Euro 2012 betting market that England have the potential to go all the way and taste glory. It is all confusing because the FA’s Trevor Brooking has said that Stuart Pearce is still in line for the job. But Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is still everyone’s favourite to get the job at the end of the day, and that could be the sole reason why the FA is waiting, because they want him and don’t want to annoy Spurs. Will it be Redknapp? Will it be foreign options looked at, like Pep Guardiola? The only good thing to come out of this extended approach by the FA, is that there is still some decent ante post prices around in the Next England Permanent Manager betting market.

Next Permanent England Manager Odds
Harry Redknapp: 4/11 at Bet Victor
Stuart Pearce: 9/1 at Stan James
Jose Mourinho: 12/1 at Bet365
Roy Hodgson: 16/1 at Paddy Power
Pep Guardiola: 16/1 at Bet365

Another popular market at the moment, as who will captain England at Euro 2012? Interim coach Stuart Pearce handed the captaincy to Scott Parker in midweek, and it is the Tottenham man is now 11/10 favourite at Paddy Power to lead his side out at Euro 2012. The other main contender is Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard at 5/2 with Bet Victor, but with him being overlooked in favour of Parker against the Netherlands, and with Parker leading from the front with enthusiasm, England may have just found their next captain. Other options are Joe Hart and Frank Lampard who are both at 10/1 with Paddy Power in the market.
