Nigeria v Burkina Faso 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Final betting

Money Back Special for ACON final

Nigeria v Burkina Faso betting is the climax of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. The two teams left standing will battle it out for honours and it is the Super Eagles of Nigeria who are trading as favourites. It is to some surprise that Stephen Keshi’s Nigeria have made it this far, because they hadn’t shown too much form over the last year or so in international football, but just maybe they are back and flying high again. After ousting tournament favourites and ending continental dreams of Didier Drogba and the Ivory Coast, the Super Eagles pounded Mali 4-1 in the semi final, the side who finished third at ACON 2012. As for Nigeria, they didn’t even qualify for the last continental finals and so this is a massive return for them and they will be expected to go on and claim victory. Nigeria are going for their third Africa Cup of Nations title on Sunday.

As for Burkina Faso, this will be their first shot at glory. Never before have they made it to the final. They are there on merit of course, but they have had to perhaps put in more work than Nigeria. Burkina Faso needed extra time to beat Togo in the quarterfinals and then needed a penalty shootout to beat pre tournament second favourites, Ghana in the semis. But what makes Nigeria v Burkina Faso betting interesting, is that the two sides have already met in the group stage and produced a draw there. A late, late penalty, four minutes into stoppage time saw Burkina Faso grab a draw against Nigeria in Group C. The two sides finished with the same amount of points (both winning one and drawing two), but Burkina Faso topped the group on goal difference.

So who will grab glory on Sunday? Nigeria do have the joint top scorer in the tournament so far in their ranks, in the form of Emmanuel Emenike, and he will probably be worth backing as first goalscorer for a price of 11/2 with online bookmaker Paddy Power.

This will go in line with the bookies’ Money Back Special for the final of the Africa Cup of Nations. If the match ends in a 0-0 draw, then Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast singles on the game.
