Crane back for defence in small Malaysia field

25th October 2011 / Lee A Jackson
Brandt Snedeker

The incredible heat and humidity is going to be a problem for the small field of 48 competing in the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic this week. This is a joint PGA and Asian Tour event in which we see a clutch of strong PGA players heading out to take on some of Asia’s leading golfers. There is no cut at this event, as it is just a small field, which should have the capacity to put in a great, low scoring contest. Only one player last year in the field of 40 then, finished over par for the tournament. So scoring is not going to be a problem for the players in Asia Pacific Classic, which is a pretty easy course. The players will be battling against the heat more than they will the course. Last year’s winner Ben Crane is back to defend his title, heading out to Malaysia on the back of that remarkable run in at The McGladrey Classic recently. On his final round there, Crane knocked in eight birdies in his last eleven holes, putting him into a play off which saw him edge Webb Simpson for the title there. Decent enough with his scoring averages to run another good title charge. Ben Crane is best priced at 14/1 in CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Malaysia golf betting so great value on him. Brandt Snedeker should also be well in contention at the event, as he is the highest ranked player in the Asia Pacific Classic field. Can see him going well here, after making a great run of things in the FedEx Cup play offs, earning himself a top ten ranking there this season. Definitely well priced around 16/1 to have a crack at the title here in such a small field. Colombian Camilo Villegas has hit a rich streak of from, firing off three top ten finishes in his last four outings. Was very good through the FedEx Cup play offs as well in converting birdie chances. Should get plenty here over the weekend to put himself in a strong position. Two other names in the field who should go well because of their ability to stick it on the green, is Bo Van Pelt (who went well in the FedEx Cup play offs as well) and has a great all round game and Spencer Levin. Van Pelt has the best all round game of any player statistically in the running at CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Malaysia golf betting and Levin has superb accuracy in getting close to the pin. Would definitely picture both of them being in the hunt for a place finish at the very least.

Good competitive field for CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Malaysia golf betting. Expect plenty of chances, because the players will really be able to get aggressive in driving at the flags.
