QPR v Liverpool Betting Odds, Preview and Predictions
Can QPR end the year on a positive note?28th December 2012 / Lee A Jackson
QPR v Liverpool Betting Preview
A tense match in prospect at the Madejski after both sides lost on Boxing Day. Harry Redknapp’s Rangers slipped to the bottom of the table with a defeat against West Brom, while Liverpool suffered away at Stoke in a match where they again looked short of firepower, with total reliance upon Luis Suarez. Rangers have start to winning soon if they are going to claw their way out of troubles. Can they rally something against Liverpool?

QPR v Liverpool Recommended Bet:
Both sides have disappointed immensely this season. The newness of Harry Redknapp’s arrival looks to have quickly worn off, as theLondoners have slipped to back to back defeats. Following an away defeat at Newcastle before Christmas, Rangers slumped their way to a home defeat, again with signs that there is a lack of fight there. QPR have managed just the one win this season, that came on home soil against Fulham in mid December and how badly they need to double up on that. Their home stats for the season read as W1 D4 L4 and their goals stats paint a clear picture. They have scored just eight goals at home this season at a rate of 0.89 per game and have conceded at a rate of 1.78, exactly double the amount they have scored. QPR have scored first in just four of their 19 matches this season and again, that just leads to huge problems. No team has scored fewer first half goals this season than Rangers have. Only once have they been leading at half time too. Last season in this corresponding fixture, Rangers rallied from 2-0 down with fifteen minutes left on the clock to record a dramatic 3-2 win. Quite where the goals are going to come from and quite how Redknapp tightens up the defence are major questions, which only the January transfer window may be able to answer.
Everton v Chelsea Betting Odds, Preview and Predictions
In the history of Liverpool’s tenure in the top flight (since the three points for a win rule came in) they have never had fewer points after nineteen games than what they have picked up this season. Again they showed that they perhaps are only a mid table side at best, when they were outworked by a resilient Stoke at the Britannia Stadium on Boxing Day. Despite taking the lead through a Steven Gerrard penalty, a direct Stoke simply worked their way back to victory. Liverpool were totally reliant on Luis Suarez up front, who chased everything without reward, and when he doesn’t deliver, Liverpool really don’t have anything. Liverpool have had more off target shots in the Premier League this season than anyone else, and they may face a tricky time in the capital on the weekend as they have lost nine of their last 16 Premier League matches in London.
On the road this season, Liverpool have taken just two wins, four draws and three defeats, having scored at a rate of 1.5 goals per game away from Anfield. They have however conceded at a rate of 1.78 per game on the road. Liverpool have won one of their last six away games now, but they have only failed to score in one of those. You would expect them to really get on the scoresheet against a crumbling QPR defence, but there could be concerns over their own fragility and their ability to kill of games. Having lost two of their last three games in the league, this could be a nervy trip, but anything less than three points for Brendan Rodgers here could see the boss coming under some heavy pressure. Can Liverpool eek out a win here enough to back them at the quoted odds? It may be worth looking at Luis Suarez as First Goalscorer for 7/2 at online bookmaker Paddy Power instead.
