Bayern Munich v Marseille Betting Odds
Bayern Munich to win: 2/7 at Coral
Draw: 21/4 at Bet Victor
Marseille: 12/1 at Boylesports

Well, Bayern Munich have one foot in the door of the Champions League semi final, and with the final of this year’s competition being held on their own turf, there is a lot to like about the Germans. Bayern earned themselves a comfortable 2-0 away win in Marseille in the first leg, and it genuinely looks as if the tie was killed off there after the first 90 minutes Bayern, as expected, have a very strong home record in Europe, and their 7-0 thrashing of FC Basel in the last round in Munich, saw them rack up their 12th win in 13 Champions League home games. They are on a streak of five straight wins there and look a solid bet to make it through to the semi final. They are a very powerful side, and they can battle and grind when it is necessary, as seen in the first leg. So Jupp Heynckes’ side are due a lot of Kudos, and actually look the strongest bet to win the Champions League behind the two Spanish giants. Bayern are a very confident side, and they have the big game experience in the Champions League and they are looking to get back to the semi final stage for the first time since 2009/10. Bayern’s record against French sides at home is W8 D2 L3.

AC Milan uphill battle against Barcelona strong home record
Barcelona v Milan Preview

Olympic Marseille, did look a bit overshadowed in the first leg of this quarter final tie, but Didier Deschamps knows that his side have played better away from home in the Champions League this season. They have already beaten a German side twice this campaign, taking out Borussia Dortmund twice in the group stage. Marseille have only lost once away from home in this season’s Champions League, winning two and drawing one in the group stage, and then suffered a late 2-1 loss at Inter Milan in the last round. Marseille, a tough, hard working and physical side, do prove to be a bit of a handful for opponents, and their away form in the Champions League, which has seen them lose just four of 13, is a testament to that. Marseille have also triumphed on the two occasions before where face German opponents in the knock-out stage of Europe. They have also not lost on their last three trips to Germany. So there is some reason to consider looking at Marseille, but they are heavy underdogs in getting through. Maybe on their day they could show up in Germany and grab a draw. However, a mid table team in the French league who haven’t won in their last eight league matches are unlikely to trouble the high flying Germans. Hard to see Marseille getting any kind of look in or making this a contest.

If so, then it will be worth taking the coverage again with Bet365.

Barcelona v AC Milan Betting Odds
Barcelona: 3/10 at Paddy Power
Draw: 5/1 at Bet365
AC Milan: 11/1 at Bet Victor

Well the two sides are at a stalemate after the first match in Milan last week, but it was a match that Barcelona did have the better of. Both Lionel Messi and Xavi were in outstanding form, but they just couldn’t pry a stubborn and hard working AC Milan defence open. They will be favourites to progress through to the semi final especially at the Nou Camp, where they have a strong home record. If they make it through the semi finals for the fifth time in a row, they will equal Real Madrid’s record of the same achievement. It is the home record here which we have to look at for Barcelona v AC Milan betting. Barcelona have not lost at home in Europe since 2009, that is a run of fourteen home fixtures, and twelve of those have produced victories. So that record alone, and Barcelona’s outstanding class suggests that AC Milan are going to be in for a long night.

Just to further enhance Barcelona’s case here, they have won 13 out of 11 quarter finals in the European Cup, and they have won their last five quarter final ties. So a very strong record, and against Italian sides at the Nou Camp, Barcelona have a W10 D5 L2 record. At home in La Liga, Barcelona have won fourteen, drawn one and lost none, and they have conceded just eight goals all season there, and they average four goals per game going forward. The presence of Lionel Messi of course will be huge, and he will be worth looking at in the goalscorer markets. Messi is 2/1 at Bet365 in the First Goalscorer market. Barcelona just look too strong, because they have the extra creativity and strength in their side on the evidence of the first leg, but they have to be wary, because the Italians did play a smart game and had a chance to steal a narrow win themselves.

AC Milan did earn a 2-2 draw at the Nou Camp on match day one, but they have not managed to win in Europe away from home this season. It was their defence, marshalled by veteran Alessandro Nesta. Milan worked Barcelona high up the pitch, trying to stop the Spaniards from relaxing on the ball from the back. It did work to a certain degree, but AC Milan did find themselves struggling to make a big impact going forward, which was disappointing at home. AC Milan managed only 38% of possession on their home turf, so that paints a big picture, and while they worked hard, they didn’t threaten a great deal, and you expect them to have to work even harder on Tuesday night in Barcelona v AC Milan betting. AC Milan’s overall away record in Spain is W4 D6 L10, and as mentioned, they haven’t won in the Champions League this season away from home. They posted three draws in the group stage, and then suffered a 3-0 against Arsenal in the round of sixteen.

The winner of this tie will face the winner of Chelsea or Benfica in the semi finals.

Lionel Messi (Barcelona)

AC Milan v Barcelona Champions League Betting has some good coverage being provided by Ladbrokes. This is the tie of the quarter finals, and brings back together two sides who faced each other in the group stage. Barcelona record goalscorer Lionel Messi will be under the spotlight once again, and if the little genius scores two or more goals in the match, then online bookmaker Ladbrokes will refund any losing first goalscorer bets placed on the match. That provides some great coverage on the AC Milan v Barcelona First Goalscorer market, where Messi himself is at 3/1 favourite, with Alexis Sanchez back at 6/1, and Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic at 7/1. So great value there in the market, which are covered by the Ladbrokes promotion. So will Messi produce the goods yet again? Popular online bookmaker Ladbrokes offer a free £50 bet for new customers registering an account with them. The bookie will match the value of your first stake on a new account with a free bet, up to the maximum value of £50.

AC Milan v Barcelona Betting Odds
AC Milan to win: 3/4 at Bet Victor
Draw: 3/1 at Bet365
AC Milan: 17/4 at Bet Victor

Well, this is the third time these two will have met in this season’s Champions League. They came together in the Group Stage, and it was Barcelona who came out on top then. Barcelona took a narrow and thoroughly entertaining 3-2 win in Milan, before being held to a draw back at the Nou Camp. AC Milan, who are top of Serie A by four points, actually battled very well against the Catalans, with Pato giving Milan an early lead in Barcelona only for the home side to take the lead before Thiago Silva rescued a point for the Italians. The two sides traded goals at 2-2 as well back at the Nou Camp, with Barcelona twice taking the lead only to twice get pegged back, before Xavi netted a winner. So AC Milan look a very efficient side and they have one of the great European records at home to bank on. AC Milan have never lost a quarter final home tie. That is over a fourteen match period, in which they have won ten and drawn four, so there is a fantastic record there to look to for your AC Milan v Barcelona betting. AC Milan have won eleven of fourteen quarter finals they have contested in Europe, and the last time they were at this stage of the competition, they went on to win it, back in 2006/07. As strong as AC Milan’s quarter record stands, they have failed to beat a La Liga side at home in their last four attempts now, but overall their record against Spanish opposition reads W11 D4 L6. AC Milan blitzed Arsenal 4-0 in the home leg of the round of sixteen, before surviving a Gunners blitz back at the Emirates, losing 3-0.

But even as good as AC Milan have looked at their best, having to live with Barcelona over two matches is a bit daunting. The Catalans have won their last six away matches straight in the Champions League now, and on the road in this year’s competition alone they have bagged fifteen goals in their four games. An inspirational performance from Lionel Messi helped see off Bayer Leverkusen in the last round, and now they head back to the San Siro, where they have won their last two matches. Barcelona have won all five of their last quarter final match ups in the Champions League and are favourites to get through this tie. They were pushed hard by AC Milan it has to be said in the group stages, so this may not be easy passage through to the semi finals for Pep Guardiola’s men. Barcelona have won their last seven matches in a row in La Liga, closing the gap on leaders Real Madrid. They are just building up a strong head of steam at the right time, and while Madrid may seem the stronger option right now, you can’t argue with Barcelona’s quality in this competition, winning it twice in the last three seasons. There have been thirteen European meetings between these two giants, with Barcelona just edging things 5 wins to 4 against the Italians.

Marseille v Bayern Munich Champions League Betting Odds
Marseille to win: 19/5 at William Hill
Draw: 13/5 at Bwin
Bayern Munich to win: 5/6 at Bet365

Marseille are actually back in the quarter finals of the Champions League for the first time since they won the tournament back in 1993. Marseille have never met Bayern Munich before and a tough task awaits the French outfit, so they need to take full advantage of home advantage here. Marseille’s form has not been great at home this season, losing two in their group stage. You extend that back and Marseille’s form at the Stade Velodrome reads nine losses in their last 18 matches there in Europe. However, they did turn their form around a little bit with a 1-0 win over the disjointed Inter Milan in the round of the last sixteen , to set up their clash with Bayern Munich. The French side will be underdogs in the tie, simply because of the power that the Germans have displayed. However, we can turn out Marseille v Bayern Munich betting attention to their stats against German opposition, and Marseille have prevailed in their last two knock-out trials against German sides. Their overall record against German opposition stands at a healthy W7 D0 L3. So you expect a battling performance from Marseille, who generally look to keep things tight and organised, and they are powerful side physically.

But will that be enough to stop the creativity of Bayern Munich? Bayern have a decent if not spectacular away record in the Champions League, winning six of the last ten. They lost the opening leg of the last sixteen away in Switzerland against FC Basel. They went down 1-0 then, but then firmly made amends with a formidable 7-0 win back in Munich in the second leg. Bayern have looked powerful this season, even though their stars like Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery haven’t been at their best. Bayern Munich’s away record against French sides in Europe stands at W4 D3 L6 so they have not done that well in France. In this year’s Champions League, there was an away defeat at Manchester City, a draw in Napoli and a win against Villarreal in the group stage, before that loss in Switzerland. So there is some margin here for Marseille to at least grab a draw or something out of this. The French side need something to take to Germany with them, because that is where Bayern will be at their best. So a tight encounter is expected in Marseille on Wednesday night, but the overall consensus is that the Germans will get through the tie.

APOEL v Real Madrid Betting Odds at SkyBet
Madrid 1/4, Draw 9/2, APOEL 11/1

Real Madrid, so strong this season under Jose Mourinho, got the luck of the Champions League quarter final draw, by drawing surprise package APOEL. The minnows made history for themselves, becoming the first Cypriot side to make not only the knock-out stage of the Champions League, but went one step better when they defeated Lyon in the round of last sixteen. This set them up with the dream tie against Europe’s best, and now they will have to set their stall out to not let this adventure turn into a bit of an embarrassment. APOEL are actually on a run of seven wins and three draws at home in their last eleven European matches now. It took a penalty shoot out to get past Lyon, but that was after a 1-0 home win over the French side. So the Cypriots do have a solid home record.

But trying to handle a formidable Real Madrid side is going to be a totally different prospect altogether. Madrid have won seven of their eight Champions League matches this season, and they have netted 24 times in those games and have conceded just four. So little doubt about where all the overwhelming supremacy lies in this match. While Madrid are favourites anyway, APOEL have never beaten Spanish opposition. Even if APOEL pull off a shock and hang on to something of a draw, which would be a immense triumph on its own, there is little chance that they are going to progress through to the semi finals and keep the fairy tale going. It is not going to happen and Madrid should prove to be in a totally different class here, and therefore APOEL v Real Madrid betting should at least produce a few goals for the away side.

Benfica v Chelsea Champions League Betting Odds

Benfica to win: 6/4 at BetFred
Draw: 23/10 at Boylesports
Chelsea: 2/1 Bet365

It does look as if Chelsea will have another uphill battle to contend with away from home. Not only are their Tuesday night opponents a formidable opposition on their home soil, but Chelsea’s away form in the Champions League this season has been very poor. The Blues haven’t won an away match in this season’s Champions League, picking up two defeats and two losses on their travels so far. They lost in Germany against Bayer Leverkusen in the knock-out stage and of course, that defensive howler out in Italy against Napoli where they lost 3-1. There is little doubt really that Chelsea are going to be stronger back at Stamford Bridge, so this is a very tough task for them. Granted, Chelsea have shaped up a bit since Andre Villas-Boas got the boot, but there is still some defensive issues for them, largely through a lack of pace at the back. The Chelsea back line will have a lot of problems trying to deal with the pace of the Benfica game. Chelsea haven’t faced Benfica before in Europe, and all of their experience against Portuguese opponents have come against Porto. Chelsea have a W4 D2 L0 record against Portuguese opponents therefore and have only won one of three out in Portugal. Chelsea have won five of their last seven Champions League quarter finals though, and this is their eighth appearance in thirteen seasons at this stage. It will need a big defensive effort on Tuesday night, to have something to take back to Stamford Bridge for Chelsea.

This is because Benfica are unbeaten in ten European home matches now, and they have rattled off eleven wins from twelve matches at home in their domestic league, scoring at a rate of three goals per game. We have seen the power of their attack, which looks very fluid, creative and quick, as they went up against Manchester United in the group stage of this year’s Champions League, and held the Red Devils to draws, both home and away. Just to add some further fuel here in reasons to back Benfica, is the fact that they have won all three of their European Cup quarter finals ties against English opposition. They have not conceded a goal at home in any of their last four home quarter final matches in Europe either. So they are the strong option at home in Lisbon, and have the ability to really cause Chelsea some problems. Chelsea battled their way past Napoli in that rousing night at Stamford Bridge in the last round, while Benfica too overcame a first leg away deficit against Russian side Zenit St Petersburg. The big difference between Benfica and Chelsea is that the Portuguese side genuinely look to have goals in them. Chelsea, well, not so much.

Andres Iniesta (Barcelona)

Time for a look at Champions League betting, now that the quarter final line up has been completed, and we know the paths the teams will make to the final via the semi’s as well. All is laid out before us now, so where is the Champions League outright winner betting standing at the moment? It is still in the court of the defending champion Barcelona? Why, when Real Madrid have been dominating things in the Spanish domestic league? Well, it is because of the proven track record of Barcelona in the Champions League in recent times. The defending Champions are still the ones to beat in this competition, even if they have lost ground to Jose Mourinho’s men on the domestic front. They have been here, handled the pressure and prevailed twice in the last three years, that’s why. So Barcelona are still trading out in front at a price of 6/5 with Bet365 to take the Champions League title again.

Real Madrid are their closest challengers in Champions League betting now at the quarter final stage. The big two will avoid each other until the final, and what a prospect that is. Real Madrid, who have looked so strong this season, are at 2/1 with BetFred behind Barcelona in Champions League betting. Real Madrid did get the best quarter final draw they could, as they landed Champions League surprise package APOEL from Cyprus. Combined, the two Spanish giants look as if they are going to be scrapping it out for the title. It is tough to see anyone wrestle the title away from one of those two.

Of the other six quarter finalists, they all come from different countries, making up a truly European event at this stage, which hasn’t always been the way here. In fact, aside from the tie of the round, which is Barcelona v AC Milan, the teams drawn together in the other three quarter finals have never met before. German side Bayern Munich, who have produced some powerful football in this year’s competition, have moved up into the position of being third favourites at a price of 6/1 with BetVictor, while Chelsea, after their heroics against Napoli at Stamford Bridge are at 11/1 with 888Sport. Can the Blues, who are the last English side left in Europe, win the Champions League, or are bettors being blinded by one remarkable night? The Blues would have to , most likely, go through Real Madrid and Barcelona to win it, so that puts it into perspective

Didier Drogba (Chelsea)

Online bookmaker Paddy Power have a great money back special running for Chelsea v Napoli Champions League betting. There were four goals in the first leg in what was a wide open game, with defences non-existent Chelsea need at least two to muscle their way past the dangerous Italians, and because Chelsea have to attack that could leave them exposed at the back. So will we see another thrilling, open match? Well, if there are four or more goals scored in the match at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, online bookmaker Paddy Power are offering lost stake refunds on any losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct score and Score-cast single bets placed on the match! So great coverage there for some of your alternative markets. Didier Drogba is 5/1 favourite in the First Goalscorer Market for example, and a 2-0 Chelsea win fetches a nice 7/1 in the Correct Score market, and you can take these bets and more with the coverage from the Paddy Power Money Back Special. Paddy Power offer a free £50 bet for new customers registering an account with them. The bookie will match the value of your initial stake as a free bet!

Chelsea v Napoli Champions league Betting
Chelsea to win: 4/5 at Paddy Power
Draw: 14/5 at Victor Chandler
Napoli to win: 15/4 at Bet365

Chelsea v Napoli Champions League betting has taken on a massive context, as the 3-1 first leg defeat for the Premier League side in Italy, sealed the deal of Andre Villas-Boas’s departure from Stamford Bridge. With them struggling to secure a place in next year’s competition, there is just a tremendous amount at stake on this match. Chelsea had taken the lead in Italy, with Juan Mata pouncing on a mistake at the back, but Napoli poured forward and some horrendous defending by Chelsea has left the London side facing an uphill battle. So Roberto Di Matteo is now in charge at the bridge until the end of the season, and having already navigated a tricky FA Cup replay away at Birmingham, and then a win against a stubborn Stoke in the Premier League, this will be the big one.

Chelsea’ s defence was hopeless against Napoli, and that’s looking at it objectively. Poor position, massive gaps and not enough pace to deal with the Italians was their downfall. Di Matteo gave a huge vote of confidence to the Chelsea senior players on Saturday in the Premier League, and he will need them to stand up big to overcome this deficit. Just to put more pressure on Di Matteo, Chelsea have not won any of their last five home matches in the Champions League knock-out stage, and they tasted defeat at this stage against Italian side Inter Milan back in the 2009/10 season. However, turning to some brighter news, Chelsea have won two out of three knock-out ties against Italian opponents.

Three times Chelsea have been in this position of having to overcome a two goal deficit in the second leg of a Champions League knock-out stage. Three times they have failed to do so. So not good reading there for Chelsea fans, but Chelsea have won six out of 10 ties when having to overcome a first leg away deficit. However, for those who watched the first leg, while it cannot be denied that Napoli were deserving of their win, there were enough signs to give Chelsea some hope.

This is because as bad as Chelsea were at the back, Napoli were equally as disappointing defensively. It was not a game in which defences showed up. Napoli have played in England just three times before, most recently against Manchester City in the group stage, where Walter Mazzarri’s men earned themselves a 1-1 draw. On the road in the group stage, Napoli beat Villarreal and lost 3-2 in a great game against Bayern Munich. So they have showed that they can produce and they are in great form in Serie A at the moment. They are sitting fourth there, no defeats in their last seven and they arrive at Stamford Bridge on the back of five straight league wins. Napoli won 6-3 on the weekend in Serie A at home.

Napoli look incredibly sharp going forward, with Lavezzi, Maggio and Edinson Cavani all major threats to the Chelsea back line. It is hard to see Napoli staying off the score-sheet on Wednesday night in Chelsea v Napoli Champions League betting and that is why Chelsea’s lifeline is hanging by a thread. Napoli can sit back and defend, but they have incredible power going forward if they need to grab an away goal, which would leave Chelsea needing a miracle. But there are those holes in the Napoli back line if Chelsea play this smartly. A fascinating match in prospect.

Chelsea host the in form Italians on Wednesday night, and have the uphill task of trying to overcome a 3-1 deficit. Three times Chelsea have been in this exact position of being two goals in arrears heading into a second leg at home in European competition. On all three of those occasions, Chelsea have failed to progress, and not having won any of their last five home matches in the knock-out stage of the Champions League, the odds are stacked against the Blues.

Bayern München Allianz-Arena

Bayern Munich v FC Basel Champions League betting sees one of the great European teams having to come from behind. Bayern were another big name to fall at the hands of FC Basel in this year’s competition, as the Swiss side build up their group stage success over Manchester United. So Bayern Munich now have to come from behind, but they head back to Germany for the second leg, and at home in the Champions League, they are a formidable force. Bayern have rattled off eleven home wins in the Champions League out of their last twelve, and against Swiss sides, Bayern have a 100% record at home. So, while Bayern have a deficit to overcome, they will be heavily backed to make that happen.

The Germans powered through their group, beating out Manchester City, Napoli and Villarreal quite comfortably in the end, and all off the force should come from them. Interestingly though, Bayern have scored one goal less in this season’s champions League than FC Basel, although Bayern have had a great more number of attempts on goal. Since the restart of the Bundesliga after the winter break, Bayern just haven’t struggled a little by their high standards, and they squandered some chances in Switzerland to grab an away goal. But Bayern Munich v FC Basel betting is expected to pan out to a win for the Germans, the talent with the likes of Mario Gomez, Franck Riberty and Bastien Schweinsteiger in their ranks to name but a few, will likely be too much for the Swiss at home.

While FC Basel achieved two objectives in the first leg, win and don’t concede an away goal, they still face an uphill task to make it through to the quarter finals. It is to their great credit that they are in this position after having come into the tournament as one of the big underdogs. They will have memories of the group stage last season in Bavaria, when they lost 3-0 against Bayern (with Bayern winning in Switzerland as well). There was the fantastic draw at Old Trafford which FC Basel pulled out in the group stage, and then that triumph over the Red Devils in Switzerland to book Basel’s place in the knock-out stages at United’s expense. In seventeen UEFA ties FC Basel have won the first leg and have managed to qualify for the next round on thirteen of those occasion.

On three out of four of those occasions FC Basel had earned a 1-0 lead in the home leg, and had gone on to win the tie. So is there another famous night to come in the Champions League? FC Basel will have seen APOEL breaking unprecedented ground by reaching the quarter finals, and they have the advantage of Velentin Stocker’s last strike from the first leg in their pocket, plus the possibility of away goals. One thing is for sure, is that Bayern will come at them, but can FC Basel again produce a fantastic night on the road? They have the work ethic and the threatening presences of Marco Strellar and Alexander Frei.
