Everton v Liverpool Betting and Match Preview:
Another surprise of the season is seeing these two Merseyside giants in the predicaments which they are in. Both teams have a lot to prove to their fans, and now the bragging rights of how is best on Merseyside, simply comes down to who get a bit further away from the relegation zone in the Barclays Premier League. With both teams looking for an upturn in form, this match really does have a draw written all over it for your football betting. Neither team have turned in great performances in front of goal this year, and one of the main problems for both sides have been a lack of creativity and clincial finishing. However, if you are looking for a hair to split in deciding which way to go in your football betting, then Everton have played with a lot more passion than Liverpool, and this is a home tie. There isn’t too much to chose between the two sides, and looking at a draw really has to come to the fore here for the Everton v Liverpool match. Whether you go for a fixed outright, or whether you go for one or the other in an Asian Handicap you should be thinking of the strong possibility of a draw. A 0-0 draw in fact will fetch you 7/1 at Bet365 which is a good possibility, while Everton to sneak things by 1 goal is 3/1 at SkyBet. Liverpool to win by a 1 goal margin is 7/2 at Paddy Power. The bookies fancy a low scoring game, with a strong hint of a draw, and Under 2.5 goals for Everton v Liverpool is 4/7 at Boylesports. Looking at Asian Handicap betting, Everton edge things again, and backing Liverpool in the positive for +0.5 goals will fetch 3/5 at Victor Chandler. This should be a tight match, so not too much to go with unless you go brave, in which case an Everton -1 will get you 14/5 at Bet365.

Everton Betting:
The Blues have had something of a shocking start to the season, something which manager David Moyes has spoken about publicly. Their form, even though it was early in the season, was something of a major concern, having not picked up a win in any of their opening six matches. Fortunately, in their last outing, they did produce a glimmer of hope, looked a bit of light at the end of the tunnel as they earned themselves a vital three points against Birmingham, which may just be the catalyst for them to push on. That win moved them above their fierce rivals Liverpool. Now Moyes will want to keep things this way, and start to build momentum to get Everton back up to where most people expect to see them. The Toffees are one of those difficult teams to play, as they work hard, don’t give away much space and are very difficult to break down. Everton are not prolific scorers and that is the way they have been set up, and that is the way David Moyes has made them into a highly respected team to face. You go to Goodison Park and you know you are going to be in for a tough afternoon. There is going to be no quarter given, and it is not as if they need any further motivation to turn in their best home performance of the season, with Liverpool taking to the field. This match really could come down to a matter of momentum. Moyes will be looking forward, and Everton really should be a comfortable top ten side in the league, and it is pretty certain that they will recover from their slow start. Everton played some very good football last year, without really grabbing any headlines. They are efficient and strong, and at home against Liverpool in the first Merseyside derby of the season, you have to look at them as favourites. They are more of a together team, a stronger, more familiar unit than their opponents and that should influence your football betting if you are looking for a winner. It’s bean a while since Everton got the better of the Reds in the league and have lost their last three home matches against Liverpool. Time to turn the tables? Tim Cahill looks the best route to goal for the Toffees and is best priced at 9/4 with Ladbrokes as Anytime Goalscorer.
Liverpool Betting:
How much will all the events off the pitch effect what happens on it? It has been another season of turmoil and disappointment for Liverpool, as their fall from grace doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon. We’ll leave all the ownership details aside and concentrate on the football though, and there hasn’t been much to smile about there either. New boss Roy Hodgson is already feeling the pressure, and fans are already beginning to turn against him. The problems from last season are still there, a lack of drive from the middle of the park, and things have been compounded by the fact that Fernando Torres isn’t at his sharpest. Torres seems to be winning a battle to be fit for the derby match, and his presence could be vital to Liverpool getting anything out of this. Torres is 2/1 at Extrabet to be an Anytime Goalscorer, a decent price considering there are huge question marks over his fitness. Tough to see where any other Liverpool goal is going to come from apart from Steven Gerrard who is also 2/1 at Totesport to find the back of the net. While a lot of blame has fell on the shoulders of the mis-firing Torres, truth be told, he hasn’t been getting any quality service whatsoever from the midfield. The personnel there are different, but the problems are the same, and until the January transfer window when funds may be available, the Reds really have to dig deep and show some fight and battle. That is something which they really have been lacking, just as much as the midfield quality. There is a lack of passion to get the club back to where it belongs. This match should be a top six clash really but instead it is a bottom six. That shows the dire straits both teams are in, but you look across the road and you really have to see more optimism for the future coming from Goodison Park at the moment. Can Hodgson deliver? He isn’t living up to the job at the moment, but a derby day away win would appease the fans for a bit at the very least. They did get the edge over their neighbours in both matches last season, but this should be a tight and cautious affair with neither wanting to lose. There is even more at stake than usual in this pride filled derby. Liverpool do have a pretty decent record at Goodison park, winning 37 of the matches there, compared to Everton’s 39 victories, so there isn’t much to choose between them really. Average goals per game at Goodison are almost exactly the same for both sides (1.22 for Everton, 1.23 for Liverpool).
