An update on my Bet for Haiti Fundraising efforts (with grateful thanks to the first donations which have come in!). Thankfully Manchester was on my side this weekend, as I backed City to beat Portsmouth and took Manchester United in plus Asian Handicap against Arsenal which paid off. I can also thank Wayne Rooney for raising some funds for the cause, as I backed him as anytime goalscorer with Bet365. Not everything went to plan in terms of Betting for Haiti over the weekend, as some bankers let me down.

Here the list of winners and losers so far, with most recent wagers at the top.

22 Bets, W12, L10. Things seem to be hurting in the Live In Play betting department, where only 2 of the 7 have come in. Bet365 offer such great Live In-Play services, that it is pretty hard to stay away from. Also a couple of what I thought would be bankers have gone down, notably in the snooker and darts, with Ronnie O’Sullivan and Phil Taylor letting the team down a bit. The one bet that hurt the most was a Live In-Play bet on Inter Milan when they were 1-0 to Juventus in the midweek cup game. I took them to get a draw at odds of 3.20 and yes, they equalised…only to go and score a heartbreaking injury time winner.

Still, with all the ups and downs of the bets so far, the funds going towards Haiti are still breaking even at the initial £20 deposit. With a busy sporting weekend ahead of football and then the Six Nations, will be looking to push on and start getting some extra funds.

If you would like to donate to Partners In Health Stand for Haiti cause, then please visit here, and again thanks to for the first donations to have come in. Every little helps, and it will be greatly appreciated.

So the first Bet for Haiti didn’t go to well, as my Columbus Blue Jackets, who are pretty much basement dwellers in the NHL, decided to unfamiliarly rally against one of their fiercest rivals, and come out a 3-2 winners. Still, using the Bet365 free bet option, allowed me to put that £5 on Chelsea to beat Birmingham in the Premier League. Chelsea is the team which I support, ever since being introduced to them way back when Kerry Dixon, Pat Nevin and David Speedie were running around looking better than they really were. Playing at Stamford Bridge, this looked like a perfect banker to me.

There was a little dabble on Bet365’s Live In-Play betting in the Women’s Quarter Final match between Serena Williams and Azaranka last night. Unfortunately I backed Azarenka to win when she was one set up, and 4-2 up in the second. She was simply looking in brilliant, untouchable form. That went pear shaped too however, which is a shame, because the Belarusian provided some wonderful entertainment with her energetic and slightly comedic high pitched yells of effort when hitting the ball. She will be missed. So will the £1 which I backed her with. The same thing happened in Roger Federer’s match. I backed Davydenko, who is one of the sharpest players on the tour at the moment, and it was all looking rosy after one and a half sets. So, I went to sleep feeling confident, but then clearly Roger Federer woke up to go on and win 3-1.

Not a very auspicious start, but surely my beloved Chelsea wouldn’t let me down. They didn’t, running out 3-0 winners against a stubborn Birmingham side. Yay! Profit. Here we go! After playing with my Bet365 Free Bet money, we’re a little down but hoping for a good day. Today I’ve gone for a Trixie on Serena Williams, Deportivo La Coruna and Flamengo RJ to win out, and will be making the most of a £1 bet per day over the next 13 days. All this is in aid of raising money for Partners in Health, to continue to bring relief to grief stricken Haiti. If there is anything to give, then please do so at the top link below…it is much appreciated on a personal level.

Betting for Haiti

With the terrible tragedy that befell Haiti recently, the world has responded with an incredible amount of donations to charities.  One personal cause that I have a connection with, requires help in order to provide help, and they are the Partners In Health. They have the medical people on the ground in Haiti, having established themselves to help people in need in poor countries. It is times like this when we are often reminded that there is much light to be gained by helping those around us, to which a blind eye would normally be turned. Being inspired by the young 7 year old lad who did a sponsored bike ride in London, raising over £100,000, I am going on a personal quest to try and raise at least $500 for PIH.

As you’ll know me and my betting passion through my posts for online-betting.me.uk, instead of just donating another lump sum, I am taking an initial donation of £20 and will be looking to increase what I can give to PIH with my knowledge of betting. You will be able to follow my progress on online-betting.me.uk, and hope that the attention will draw more generous donations to this needy cause.

Over the course of two weeks, starting Tuesday, January 26th, I will be making bets, and recording them all on the blog here. All profits garnered (because, hey, let’s be positive here), will be donated along with the initial amount to PIH.

All of my betting will be done through top Online Bookmaker Bet365, and I have started my quest with a bet on the NHL, of which I am a big fan. I support the Columbus Blue Jackets, and in a wonderful showing of loyalty, I have bet against them in their game on Tuesday.
My first bet, therefore in my “Betting for Haiti” quest, goes as:
£5 on Nashville Predators to beat Columbus Blue Jackets – 1.86 at Bet365

Incidentally, this bet has entitled me to a free matched bet with Bet365, which I shall be using during the course of Live In Play betting at the Australian Open Quarter Finals, notably backing the Williams sisters to reach the semi final. The results of which will be posted tomorrow.

Again, the purpose of doing things this way, is to keep up awareness of the plight faced by people in Haiti, and how much aid is needed. it is designed to gather support. It is hoped that donations will come into the PIH donation page and the desired total will be able to be reached, with the help of friends, loyal readers and visitors to www.online-betting.me.uk, who have given me great support for me to do this. I’ll also be firing off updates about all this on my Twitter.

For those wishing to donate, the donation page can be found here at the Betting For Haiti page, which is run completely through Partners in Health as part of their Stand for Haiti Campaign.
