On this page you find articles on Phil Taylor and sports betting in general.
England duo of Phil Taylor and World Champion Adrian Lewis are clear favourites to lift the 2012 World Cup of Darts title. The three day event, which brought together twenty four of the top darts nations from across the world, has been action packed and non stop. The event is being held out in Germany, and the English pair are gunning hard for glory. There was almost a huge upset in the second round (which is the stage at which the top eight seeded teams entered) as top seeds England found themselves 2-0 down after the singles in their match against Canada, but miraculously turned things around in the doubles, forcing the match to sudden death leg, which the English duo took. One point is awarded for a singles victory, and two points for a doubles victory. That was a big comeback for England and will no doubt have given them even more confidence. Phil The Power Taylor has been joined by double World Champion Adrian Lewis for this years event, who takes the place of James Wade. Taylor and Lewis had to overcome a little trouble in their quarter final match against the USA, as Taylor lost the opening singles match. But with Lewis winning and the doubles match victory, England saw off the eleventh ranked team 3-1 to book their place in the semi finals. This is a better effort already from the 2010 event (which was the inaugural World Cup of Darts), in which Taylor and Wade were upset in the second round by huge underdogs Spain. Everything is pretty much running for form at the 2012 World Cup of Darts, the only big surprise being fourth seeds Scotland crashing out to 19th seeds South Africa in the second round.
England’s semi final opponents will be Wales, who are fifth seeds in the tournament and are chugging along very nicely. The duo of Richie Burnett and Mark Webster are an exciting pairing, and after seeing of Croatia 4-0 in the second round, they then saw off Scotland’s conqueror’s South Africa 3-1 to move ahead to the semi finals and the Welsh are looking pretty dangerous. They were the losing finalists at the 2010 World Cup of Darts, with Webster then being paired up with Barrie Bates. There is going to be no easy rides from here on out, and equally as dangerous are second seeds in the 2012 World Cup of Darts betting, Australia who have Simon Whitlock and Paul Nicholson going for them, have pretty much breezed through, beating Ireland comprehensively, and then seeing off tricky seventh seeds Belgium in the quarter finals. The Aussies are not going to be a pushover, as they face the defending Champions, the Netherlands for a spot in this year’s final. It is a different duo going for the Netherlands as well this, with Raymond van Barneveld teaming up with Vincent van der Voort, who comes in to replace Co Stompe. The Netherlands were paired up against fifth seeds Northern Ireland in the quarter finals, and the Dutch wasted little time in overpowering their opponents, taking the match 4-0 in the end. So the Dutch are going great guns on the path to defending their title, and while England are favourites in the 2012 World Cup of Darts betting, they have perhaps been the shakiest of the four semi finalists so far. Both Australia and the Netherlands have looked very dominant and the winner of their big semi final clash would make a good shout to go on and lift the title.
The semi finals and the finals will all be played on Sunday, February 5th

The second round of the 2012 PDC Darts World Championship will fire underway on December 22nd, with the big guns still in the hunt. Defending Champion Adrian Lewis had a narrow escape in his first round match, squeezing past Nigel Heydon 3-2 in the defence of his title. It wasn’t very impressive stuff, and whether nerves as defending champion, combined with his penchant for inconsistency will plague him during this run remains to be seen. It wasn’t a convincing kick off from him to say the least. Phil The Power Taylor had no such problems though, breezing past qualifier Haruki Muramatsu in straight sets to book his place in the second round. Strong contender, Scotland’s Gary Anderson starts his run at the final on Tuesday with a match against Jyhan Artut. Anderson was last year’s losing finalist against Lewis, and has to be hungry to get back there and get his hands on the title. The biggest upset of the competition so far was England’s James Richardson crushing Raymond van Barneveld 3-0 in the first round. The big Dutchman was all full of talk, saying how he was getting back into his top form and was ready to gun for Phil Taylor in the draw. Well, that’s all over with, and is one challenger down for Phil Taylor.
The second round of the 2012 PDC Darts World Championship betting runs from December 22nd to the 28th, and it is that man Phil Taylor who is still commanding everything and is still the man to beat. He is the man that the bookies fear the most as well, and why he remains so short as outright favourite. Really can’t see anything stopping Taylor on a run at the title here at the moment, and really should be a certain for a quarter final place at the very least, and then we’ll take our darts betting from there.

The 2012 Darts World Championship is up and running, with the superb action firing until early next year at London’s Alexander Palace. Defending champion Adrian Lewis will be hungry to show that he has more than just one world title in him, while the big man himself, the one and only Phil The Power Taylor will be looking to reclaim his World Championship crown, what would be his sixteenth success at the event. Taylor crashed out in the quarter finals last year to Mark Webster, a true surprise and now Raymond van Barneveld has come out of the woodwork to state that he is gunning for the scalp of Phil Taylor this time. The two would meet on the way to the final, but Taylor is firm favourite in your World Championship Darts betting to go all the way, making up for his bitter disappointment last year. So it is all big talk from the Dutchman, who hasn’t been in great form for a long time now, and although he has won his last couple of exhibition matches, it is a far cry from picking up titles. With Scot Gary Anderson, last year’s losing finalist, also a danger player in the betting market, the action will be intense at the Ally Pally as the world’s top darters fight it out for supremacy.
Online bookmaker Paddy Power have a great online betting promotion running for the duration of the 2012 PDC Darts World Championship. The bookie is providing some great insurance on your live in play match betting for the Darts World Championship. This offer will not apply to any match bets placed prior to the match starting. Still, so if you are going to dip into your live betting for the 2012 PDC Darts World Championship, then Paddy Power will at least give you some pretty good coverage on your betting.
So head to Paddy Power for this great darts betting coverage. The highly rated online bookmaker welcomes new customers with a free £50 bet. There is more top darts betting action coming up, as we turn our attention to the 2012 PDC Darts World Championship. We are fresh from the 2011 PDC World Darts Championship, in which tournament favourite Phil Taylor suffered a shock second round defeat against Mervyn King. Will The Power rediscover his winning touch at London’s Alexandra Palace for the 2012 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship? Adrian Lewis starts off as defending Champion, after taking last year’s final against Scot Gary Anderson. The best of the best now step up to the oche again in the quest for supremacy. The event runs over two weeks, with a break in between for Christmas and New Years of course, which means that the final will be played on January 2nd. The action starts in the first round on December 15th and goes through to the 21st. There is a £200,000 prize for the winner, and with all of the top 32 players in the PDC Order of Merit in the field, along with a mix of other qualifying entrants it is the top darts betting action we always look forward to at this time of the year. Cold winter nights, Christmas and New Year on our doorstep and rowdy darts crowds. Game on!
Phil Taylor: Evens at Ladbrokes
Still the big target of all other players on the circuit, and he of course has thirteen world titles under his belt already, his last triumph coming back in 2010. He has picked up the World match play, the World Grand Prix, the Grand Slam, the European Championships, the Players Championships Finals and the Championship League titles this year, just to add to his ever growing trophy cabinet. He starts off as favourite in the 2011 PDC World Darts Championship betting, even with that anomaly last week where he bombed against Mervyn King. His three dart average in two matches (after beating Terry Jenkins in the first round) was notably low for him, and can you expect a bounce back performance from him? Yes, this is his stage, the best darts player in the world and he will be hungry to get back the title he lost last year. He crashed out against Mark Webster in the quarter finals of last year’s World Championships, which ended his quest for a third consecutive title. The old fire hasn’t gone from The Power, he is still as hungry as ever. He is more beatable than ever before in his career, but that having been said, he can still destroy this field. No reason not to have a punt on him winning the title for the fourteenth time. Has to be extremely happy with the draw, and his big challenge should come from Gary Anderson at the semi final stage, and man who he holds a great head to head record over. Should be a breeze, on paper, up until the quarter finals. This is his tournament, expect him to go big.
Gary Anderson: 17/2 at Paddy Power
Came so close last season here, and has progressively gotten better through his 2011 season. A real power house, capable of firing in heavy scoring runs. Like Taylor had a strange Players Championship, after losing in the second round to Kevin Painter. Still, has to be considered as a threat. His form has dwindled just a little bit since the Premier League, but has the potential to cause huge problems here. With everything being said, he has been one of the most consistent and strong players over the course of the year. Will have enjoyed his taste of the final last year, and that should be huge motivation to get back there and correct his failings from last time. Good draw for him, which should ensure a quarter final spot. Some tricky players in his quarter, like Mervyn King and Simon Whitlock, but if Anderson is on top of his game, then would expect to see him in the latter stages.
Adrian Lewis: 17/2 at Boylesports
Didn’t partake in the recent Players Championship Finals, so will be hungry for some action. He came through last season to win here and take his first PDC title. Arguably had a pretty easy run to the final, especially as his projected semi final clash with Phil The Power Taylor never emerged. But he saw off Taylor’s conqueror Mark Webster in the semi’s and then Anderson in the finals. Hasn’t been in great shape this season, and there are always questions of consistency with him. Has the talent, but the consistency worries are his big concerns. After not competing last week, will this have hindered or helped him? Really neither way, because all players will be up for the challenge of the World Championship. He is the defending champion, and he will have a lot more eyes and pressure heaped upon his shoulders. Realistically do not seem him going all the way. He will be kept away from Phil Taylor until the final this time, as he starts as second seed behind The Power. Decent draw ahead, biggest threat could be James Wade who we fancy more in our 2012 Darts World Championship betting.
James Wade: 11/1 at Paddy Power
Another one who failed at the Players Championship last week. Beginning to think that they were all distracted by this week’s World Championship. Anyway, Wade made it to the quarter finals there where he lost out to Scott Rand. You always expect a little more from Wade, who has been struggling to hit top form over the past twelve months, but would not count him out. In fact he is going to make one of our top 2012 Darts World Championship betting tips, because he can surprise. Had a hugely disappointing second round exit here last year and won’t want a repeat of that. Won the UK Championship this season and so he can deliver. Worth an outside shot, because the draw is lined up very nicely for him. Wade is in the bottom half of the draw along with second seed Adrian Lewis, and with Lewis’s unpredictability, could well capitalize.
Mark Webster: 28/1 at Totesport
Will have done his chances no harm at all after making it to the final of the Players Championship last week. However, when he has come up against the best of the best, too often he has failed to deliver. The Welshman has to be confident and has to be in with an outside shot. He is going to need his very best though to take this. He famously knocked out Phil Taylor in the quarter finals last year, but lost to Adrian Lewis in the semi’s.
Online bookmaker Boylesports have a 2012 PDC Darts World Championship darts betting promotion running for this one. They Players Champions Finals darts betting kicks off in a couple of days with Phil The Power Taylor expected to keep up his fine form and sweep all before him. Taylor is favourite in the outright betting at a price of Evens at VC Bet, and the highly popular bookie has a great darts betting promotion for the entire duration of the Players Champions Finals betting. This promotion has been kicking all year whenever there has been a televised darts tournament, and with the Players Championship Finals being broadcast on ITV 4 this year, then Victor Chandler’s darts betting promotion is again up for grabs. When you back a player in match betting in any televised tournament, Victor Chandler will refund your lost stake if the player you back loses the match, but does manage to land a 170 checkout during his defeat. So this little bit of darts betting insurance offers some coverage to back up your match betting. It is the kind of thing which does happen and with an action packed few days in Doncaster at the oche from December 8th to 11th there is plenty of betting opportunities to get your teeth into.
Justin Pipe, who has been showing well this year at the Players Championship events goes as top seed, with dangerous Scot Gary Anderson firmly in the hunt as number two seed. Phil The Power Taylor is actually only seventh seed, and could have an early quarter final coming together against Gary Anderson. That will be a real highlight of the tournament. The other big name to watch out for is James Wade for your Players Championship Finals darts betting, but of course, all of the spotlights will be shining firmly on Phil Taylor as he looks for his third title at this event.
See our full 2011 Players Championship Finals darts betting preview here.
Online bookmaker Victor Chandler offer a free £25 bet as a sign up bonus for new customers registering an account. The bookie will match the value of your first deposit on a new account with a free bet, up to the maximum value of £25, giving you some great free betting cash to start off your sports betting with them.

There is some great darts betting on the horizon with the 2011 Players Championship Finals taking to the oche on December 8th and concluding on December 11th. This is not to be confused with the 2011 Players Championship Finals which happened back in February. With a schedule change, the event goes in front of the PDC World Championship now, as so we get to take a second look at the event for this year. Who won back in February? Well that was Phil Taylor, who has now won two out of the three Players Championship Finals. Just to clarity what this is, it is the top 32 players in the Order Of Merit at the conclusion of the Players Championship events get their place in the draw. This is a totally separate ranking from the world rankings, as it involves points amassed from non-televised events only on the PDC Calendar, the Players Championship events. We are at the Doncaster Dome for your darts betting on this one, and while there is another great line up to look forward, there have been two causalities who won’t be in attendance, and that is Australian star Simon Whitlock and the current World Champion Adrian Lewis. Anyway, let’s skip over how players got there and who is not showing up, let us take a look at the 2011 Players Championship Finals darts betting for the forthcoming tournament.
Phil Taylor is the outright favourite and that clearly is going to be no surprise. The Power has burst back into life over the second half of the season, and is in ripe old form. He rattled off a win in the Championship League recently, to add to his European Championship, Grand Slam, World Grand Prix and World Match play titles this year. He also is the defending champion of the Players Championship Finals and is clearly going to be worth a punt. Those doubting whether he still had it in him can clearly think again, he is not past it yet. Taylor beat out Gary Anderson in a thrilling final back in February, taking the title 13-12 in a classic. Now he will be back to defend his title, and quite frankly, with the way he is playing he is going to take some stopping. Taylor is in the third quarter of the draw and starts off against Terry Jenkins. The fascinating thing about this draw, is that Phil Taylor will most likely run into Gary Anderson in the quarter finals because of the seedings for the event. Looking at the bigger picture of the bottom half of the draw, the winner of that potential clash really should go on and take a place in the final, because the bottom half of the draw really is not all that strong and don’t see any big surprises happening.
So that makes Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson good options for your 2011 Players Championship darts betting. Anderson, the Premier League winner this year, and runner up at the World Championship and Players Champions Finals this year should be in with a strong chance here. Everything pretty much points to that epic clash between Taylor and Anderson in the quarter finals. They have met ten times this year and Taylor has won eight of the meetings, including a right demolition job dished out in the final of the Grand Slam of Darts which he won 16-4. So the odds are on Taylor picking up another win here and that is why he will start the tournament as favourite, with Anderson back as second favourite, in the chance that he will upset The Power.
Who else are we looking at in our Darts Betting for the 2011 Players Championship Finals? Well James Wade has the potential to win here, but more often than not he just fails to quite live up to the high expectation people have about him. He did lift the UK Open title this year, beating out Wes Newton, but as he is down in the bottom half along with Taylor and Anderson, he is falls down the pecking order in your Darts Betting. What makes this draw interesting really is that it is really hard to pick a winner out of the top half of it. It means that we could really see a surprise finalist on the cards here, with the likes of Mark Webster, Wes Newton and John Part in there, it is a tough call. Englishman Wes Newton is a great talent and did reach the final of the UK Open. He can turn it on in burst, but doesn’t have the consistency of the star players in the draw like Taylor and Anderson. But could well be worth a punt in getting to the final here. See a good draw ahead for him, and while he may come into contact with John Part in the quarter finals (the stage at which Newton fell in the last Players Championship Finals), can see Newton having a good run at things in your 2011 Players Championship Finals darts betting.

Well the 2011 Grand Slam of Darts betting has gotten a little bit interesting after the Round Robin stage. In the top half of the draw we lost two of the top seeds, with defending champion Scott Waites crashing out disappointingly, along with Holland’s Raymond van Barneveld. However, while that will be quickly forgotten about, the look of the entire draw is just a little bit unbalanced. The biggest surprise for the second round (the first knockout stage) was that fourth seed James Wade and fifth seed Gary Anderson have been paired together. This was all due to Englishman James Wade failing to win his group, meaning that he now has to go into battle against the Scot, earlier than expected. A meeting between the two was always on the cards, but it shouldn’t have happened until the quarter finals of 2011 Grand Slam of Darts betting. But here we are, the Gary Anderson v James Wade clash being the highlight of the second round. Gary Anderson opened his group stage with a shock 5-3 defeat against Nigel Heydon, but then stormed back into life beating Wayne Jones and Brendan Dolan 5-1 each. So Anderson managed to top his round robin group ahead of Jones, where Wade could only mange second place behind Terry Jenkins in his. That is why we have a fascinating Gary Anderson v James Wade match up in the second round. Match betting odds are currently Gary Anderson 5/6 v James Wade 6/5 at Stan James.
However, looking at the bigger picture, the winner of this will be red hot favourite to make the final from the top half of the draw. There really is a gilt edged opportunity here for whoever can battle their way through this mammoth clash between two of the favourites (behind Phil Taylor of course) to take the Grand Slam of Darts title this year. Scot Anderson will just be the favourite for this match up, after having beaten Wade twice in this year’s Premier League of Darts, and Anderson recently triumphed again over Wade in the Championship League of Darts. The overall head to head record between the two stands at 13-5 in favour of Anderson. So, should he triumph over Wade, then his odds will shorten in the outright winner market for your 2011 Grand Slam of Darts betting, simply because of the draw.
Down in the bottom half of the draw, all four seeds progressed to the knockout stages, with Phil Taylor topping the bill of course. He, along with Adrian Lewis were the only two men in the Round Robin to win all three of their matches, so both should be a big threat. Phil Taylor goes up against 7th seed Wes Newton in the second round and the head to head here between the two is very one sided. Taylor has beaten Newton 17 times, and Newton has picked up just one victory over The Power, but that was a fairly recent one in the semi final stage of a qualifying group for the Championship League of Darts (which Taylor eventually went on to win anyway). So, we can sort of confidently predict that Taylor will be in the next round. What is most interesting about the bottom half of the draw for your 2011 Grand Slam of Darts betting, is that he will be on a collision course with Adrian Lewis at the semi final stage. Those two are now the powerhouses which should battle it out for a place in the final from the bottom half.
So taking another look at the big picture here, from the top half of the draw we can look at Gary Anderson or James Wade to go deep, while it should, on paper, be between Taylor and Lewis from the bottom half. A lot more darts to be played of course, as build up to the final on November 20th at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

There’s some wonderful darts betting action going on over the next week, with the 2011 World Matchplay Darts swinging into action. This is just the five occasion the event has been held, which brings together the best of the PDC and the BDO to slug it out at the oche for the title. Three of the four previous runnings of the tournament have been won by Phil The Power Taylor, but he missed out last year as Scott Waites stole in to take the title. While Taylor is favourite to rattle off another victory in Wolverhampton, there should be some stiff challenges to come from within the 32 man field. Scot Gary Anderson has grown in stature in the game over the past twelve months or so, and World Champion Adrian Lewis will also be hungry for success. But James Wade, who has come into some good form lately, and was the losing finalist here last year should also be able to make an impact, and it is with the Englishman, that popular bookie Boylesports have built their 2011 World Matchplay darts betting promotion around.
If James Wade wins the World Matchplay title, then the bookie will refund all losing single bets placed on the outright market. So this coverage on the Outright Winner for your darts betting should give you a little comfort in your betting. It means that you can fully weigh in behind Phil Taylor to win at 11/10 for example, and if The Power comes up short and Wade wins the title, at least you’ll get your lost stake refunded. There is great value in the Outright Winner market with this Boylesports Money Back Special for your darts betting, with Gary Anderson at 7/1 and defending Champions Scott Waites well out at 25/1.
The highly popular and highly rated online bookmaker Boylesports offer a free £20 for new customers registering an account with their sign up bonus. Simply place your first bet with a stake of £20, and you will receive a free match bet matching the value of your first stake, up to that amount. The arrows will flying at the Wolverhampton Civic Centre this week, will they be landing where you want them too?

Online bookmaker Victor Chandler are running a promotion for 2011 World Grand Prix Darts betting this week. All of the world’s best darts players are in attendance at the event in Dublin, at which James Wade is the defending champion. Wade beat out World Champion Adrian Lewis last season and is back to defend his title. Phil Taylor slipped up in the semi finals of last year’s event to Adrian Lewis and the nine times Champion will be hungry to get his hands back on the title. It is Taylor who is leading the way in the outright winner market, priced at 11/8 to win the tournament for the tenth time in his remarkable career. However, there are strong challenges on the horizon, in particular from Scot Gary Anderson, the Premier League winner. Gary Anderson is trading as second favourite at a price of 6/1, the same price at which defending Champion James Wade can be taken out. So we are set for some great darts action in the 2011 World Grand Prix Darts betting and Victor Chandler is there with a Money Back Special. If you back a player to win a match in darts betting a the World Grand Prix, but they lose, you will be paid out as a winner if your player has landed a 170 checkout in his defeat. So, back a player, and if your selection loses but does hit a 170 finish, then you will be paid as a winner.
