Uruguay v Paraguay 2011 Copa America Final Betting Odds, Tips and Preview

Well, Uruguay v Paraguay betting is the somewhat unlikely prospect that is awaiting us for the 2011 Copa America final. Uruguay were the first team to book their place in the final, with a double strike from Liverpool’s Luis Suarez sinking Peru. It took until the early stages of the second half on the semi final, for Uruguay to open the scoring, and the two strikes from Suarez within five minutes was enough to put the favourites through to the final. After a run of upsets in the quarter final stage of the 2011 Copa America in which Brazil fell, and Uruguay defeated the host nation Argentina, normal order was restored with Uruguay seeing off Peru. Uruguay have gotten better and better as the tournament has gone on. They looked a little slow in their opening group matches, but were strong enough to pull together the more matches they got under their belt. This is pretty much the same side as we saw in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and the same game plan is still there. Uruguay are one of the best international sides in the world when it comes to denying space and time to the opposition. Uruguay keep such as a strong shape and they press high up the field, working very hard from the front duo of Luis Suarez and Diego Forlan to an extremely efficient midfield. It is such a hard working side that they can really compete with the best in the world. They also have two very in form strikers which can finish chances when their come. After going two nil up in their semi final against Peru, Uruguay we handed a comfortable passage when Peru went down to ten men. That meant they could relax and control the game, and never looked in danger of losing the match. Uruguay were the tournament favourites heading into the semi finals after the fall of the big guns, and this is a hungry side, who play very economical and organised football, with a real killer punch breaking forward.

This is the first time La Celeste have been in the final of the Copa America since 1999, and the last time they lifted the title was back in 1995. Uruguay exert a lot of control in their games, and do not give much away. It took a long time for Peru to get into the match, but Uruguay’s dominance was already producing an inevitable outcome by that point. Uruguay v Paraguay 2011 Copa America final betting will now really fancy La Celeste to pick up their 15th Copa America title now. The second semi final was a terribly dire affair between Paraguay and Venezuela. Venezuela were the surprise package of the tournament, having never been to the final of the competition, but have given such a good account of themselves going from the position as outsiders. Venezuela had the chances to win the semi final as well, and hit the woodwork three times in the match against Paraguay. However, with the semi final going to penalties, those close calls proved to be a crucial blow for Venezuela, who started the match nervously but then came more and more into it. Fate was on the side of Paraguay, who squeezed through to their first Copa America final in 32 years following the penalty shoot out. Really, out of the two sides, Venezuela exerted more control in the match, and Paraguay rode their luck, going down to ten men, despite being the more fancied side. This was yet another draw for Paraguay, who have now not won a single game in the tournament so far. They drew every match in the group stage, and now have used a penalty shoot out to get through each of the knockout rounds. While they have played some very good football at periods during the tournament, they really have to find more of a threat going forward and find some better control in the middle of the park. At the end of the penalty shoot out in the semi final, there was a mass brawl between the two sets of players, as well as officials from both nations.

Uruguay v Paraguay Copa America final betting looks a good tip to go with Uruguay. Paraguay have threatened but have not been able to put it all together and actually deliver. They have proven hard to finish off themselves, playing quite resilient and at least attempting to get forward. However, on the basis of the rest of the tournament, they will have a very tough time in trying to find a way through Uruguay. Uruguay won’t give them the time on the ball to create something, and so you would expect possession to be more with the Uruguayans. That having been said, with the way the tournament has gone too, there is a high possibility of a draw here. Paraguay will want to hang on for as long as they can, and after having drawn every other game in the tournament, it is a good trend to stick with. It is definitely worth looking at for some value in your betting. Some other options here to go with, if you fancy the 2011 Copa America final goes to penalties. You can take either side to win on penalties at 9/1 with Paddy Power. Both have had their experiences of penalty shoot outs in the tournament so far, so there is a high possibility of it all going that far, especially in the tense atmosphere of a final where teams to often play with more of a sense of caution. Something also which is looking at is the Uruguay v Paraguay Winning Margin bets, which also offer some value. We don’t see a great deal of goals flying around in the final, and therefore, backing Uruguay to win by 1 goal will fetch 13/5 at Paddy Power and that offers better value than Forlan and co winning the match in outright betting.
