Celebrity Big Brother – Oh Brother!

December 31st, 2008 / paddy power

Just when you thought it was safe to watch Sky Sports without the missus threatening to switch over to Strictly or the X Factor, Channel 4 have brought back Celebrity Big Brother after a brief break due to the 2007 racism row. Once again C4 have managed to gather together a group of fame hungry/stuck for a few bob/slightly mad celebrities to enter the house for three weeks. The usual manufactured story about money has been pumped out by the tabloids who claim “housemates are said to be furious after it emerged that Ulrika Jonsson is to receive £175,000 for her appearance.” That should be enough for her to reveal secrets about Sven in the bedroom, if that’s what you’re into. It could cost you money if you don’t back Jonsson to win!

PDC World Championship – Wayne Stompe-d Out

December 31st, 2008 / paddy power

With Phil Taylor waiting in the quarter-finals Wayne Mardle might not be too upset at losing to Co Stompe but he certainly won’t be pleased with the manner of the defeat. The Dutchman cruised to a 4-0 win as Mardle failed to get going. Can Stompe step up and shock the Power or is he Co-ing out? Darts Betting

New Zealand v West Indies – Nothing New Here

December 30th, 2008 / paddy power

It seems to be a case of better the devil, or at least the cricket format, you know for New Zealand ahead of their one day series with the West Indies . The two sides shared their recent test and Twenty20 series but the Kiwis are hoping to continue their recent ODI dominance over the Windies and the feeling in the camp is that this format suits them best. “You know you need to get off to a quick start, build in the middle and go again at the end. Test matches don’t always follow those lines whereas one-dayers, 85 per cent of the time it’s a pretty constant factor. I think that’s where the ease comes into it,” commented some scruffy art student who happened to be passing by, though it could have been New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori. Is there only one winner in this one day series?

Hull v Aston Villa – Pretty Poor

December 30th, 2008 / paddy power

After being spanked like Max Mosley on an average Tuesday by both Man City and Sunderland, Phil Brown has called for his players to stop trying to look good and start getting results again. "I think we have been sucked into the pretty Premier League. We are not pretty by any stretch of the imagination – we are ugly Hull. We need to be ugly again against Aston Villa." Speaking of winning ugly, could veteran striker and non-Calvin Klein model Dean Windass come on to score last at 10/1? Aston Villa are very much in the race for a Champions League place and a win over Hull will see them leapfrog Arsenal back in to fourth spot. On current form there’s only one winner but Hull have shown their quality this season and they’ll fancy they have a pretty good shot at the win. Tues 8pm SS1

PDC World Championship – Starting To Jelle

December 30th, 2008 / paddy power

After becoming the youngest ever World Champion when he won the BDO title in 2006, much was expected of Jelle Klaasen when he switched to the PDC, failing to get past the first round in last year’s championship. The Dutchman looks like he’s found his feet this year though and could prove to be in the same Klaas as Barney and Taylor. Darts Betting

PDC World Championships – In The Same Klaas?

December 29th, 2008 / paddy power

The only question worth asking about the PDC World Championships is can anyone beat Phil Taylor? And if so, who? Okay that’s two questions but the point remains the same. The Power has been close to his imperious best so far, not fropping a set in either of his first two games, but he’s not the only one to impress. Former BDO World Champion Jelle Klaasen demolished Colin Lloyd in the first round before handing out a similar stomping to fellow Dutchman Jan van Der Rassel, closing out the game with a 12 darter. The 24 year-old Klaasen looks like a future PDC World Champion but will he have to wait until Phil Taylor hangs up the tungsten before he has a real shot? Barney and James Wade are Taylor’s main rivals but does Jelle anyone else have the Klaas to compete? Darts Betting (SS2)

Blackpool v Wolves Betting – Mc Attack

December 29th, 2008 / paddy power

Given their fabulous run of form in the Championship, it’s not surprising Premier League clubs have been taking a second look at some of Wolverhampton’s young stars. With the January transfer window about to swing open, manager Mick McCarthy is preparing to fend off bigger clubs. “I have said that I will tell any club to politely go away, as will the chief executive and the chairman. None of them are going anywhere,” the Yorkshireman said, before not adding, “If that doesn’t work, I’ll replace “politely go away” with something I told Roy Keane to do in Saipan, **** off.” Wolves have set the pace and would have been ten points clear had they beaten Sheffield United on Boxing Day. Is backing Blackpool to beat Wolves just taking the Mick? Mon 7.45pm SS1

Denver @ San Diego Betting – NFL Week 17

December 29th, 2008 / paddy power

“If you would have told us at the beginning of the year that it was a one-game series with us down in San Diego to go to the play-offs, we probably would have taken it.” Denver Broncos Jay Cutler reveals that he didn’t have high hopes before the season started, probably just above the Detroit Lions would have been good. However with the QB third in passing yards in the NFL this season, he could be key. Can they cut it against the Chargers?

US Racing – Live on ATR – Barking Mad!

December 29th, 2008 / paddy power

Some time ago we informed you US politics had gone to the dogs. It really has now. Ever since Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested for trying to sell Barack Obama’s Senate seat, there have been questions about who will eventually fill the vacated seat. As our copy and pasted story reveals, a California couple say they have the answer to all the state’s woes. It’s a bit rough really. Michael Sunday and his family have launched an Internet campaign touting their 14-year-old border collie named Scuba as the next governor of the state. Because she’s deaf she certainly wouldn’t hear calls for her to step down and couldn’t do any worse than Blagojevich. You’d be barking mad to miss tonight’s US Racing live on ATR!

Premier League Coupon – Ref Justice

December 28th, 2008 / paddy power

If one of his players pulls a gun out of their shorts and kneecaps an opponent two feet from the Arsenal dug-out, you can be sure that Arsene Wenger would give a Gallic shrug and claim he couldn’t see the incident from where he was sitting. Yet it seems that very little that goes on off the pitch without the Frenchman knowing about it. According to his not very well veiled insinuations, the reason Aston Villa came back from 2-0 down to claim a draw was because Villa’s assistant manager John Robertson had a word with the ref at half-time. “At half-time the referee gets stick and then in the second half every little 50-50 decision goes the other way.” That Villa outplayed the Londoners and deserved the win doesn’t seem to matter though. Can Pompey be next to ref up Arsenal? Premier League
