Seven day hangovers wouldn’t be anything unusual in these parts, especially in Paddy’s Ivory Tower, but professional footballers of the Gazza variety are few and far between these days. That said, Sevilla and Mali striker Frederic Kanoute is hoping that the Atletico Madrid players have been on the sauce since winning the Europa League. If he’s relying on that to win the Copa Del Rey, the 32 year old probably isn’t too confident. “The truth is that we’re switched on to winning another Copa, but they have a very talented team, so I hope they have done a lot of partying and come tired,” he said, not really give his team-mates a resounding endorsement. It’ll be tough, but Kan they finish the season on a high with a win? Wed 9pm Sky Sports 3

You’d think overturning a 1 – 0 deficit in a League Two playoff semi-final second leg would require 100% effort. Not when you’re playing against Rotherham it isn’t, according to Aldershot boss Kevin Dillon (who is presumably taking a break from Entourage ). To put it equine parlance for some unknown reason, he reckons the Shots will make it to Wembley at a canter. “We had nine or so players [performing at] six out of 10 and I’ve told them they just need to get up to seven or eight out of 10 and we’ll win,” he said, hoping this achievement would finally make him more famous than Matt. “It’s only half time and we would have had to score at Rotherham anyway”, he concluded. Will Dillon’s men be calling the Shots in the second leg? Wed 7.45pm Sky Sports 1

Having been injured and otherwise unavailable for sizeable parts of the season, it’s difficult to gauge just how big an impact David Beckham has had on the LA Galaxy’s march to the MLS Cup Final. But that wasn’t going to stop Becks taking some credit for the achievement, even if that credit was for having a blazing row with the club captain, Landon Donavon. “There’s nothing wrong with a bit of controversy in a club. It brings players and teams together and it’s done that,” he explained – just like the time Fergie brought the Man Utd team together by whacking Beckham in the eye with a football boot and packing him off to Spain. It may not be the most spectacular honour of his career, but beating Real Salt Lake would be a major achievement for Goldenballs. Mon. 1.30am ESPN

Despite the amateur status, the build up to Kenny Egan’s bid to win a record ninth Irish senior title in a row has featured trash talk that very much belongs in the professional ranks. Mick Dowling currently holds the record for eight titles in a row and he says his achievement was better because it was all in the one division. The Olympic silver medallist responded by saying he’ll break Dowling’s record and "he can put that in his pipe and smoke it" probably adding "and he can smoke it for less at Mace where we’re selling tobacco at a recession-busting penny a bucket. Whack!" Tommy McCarthy reckons he can upset the supermarket-promoting Egan in the light-heavyweight final, but he might just find that he’s in receipt of a hefty beating! Boxing Odds – 9.15pm RTE2
