Although everyone laughs and dismisses it as a love-in for eastern Europe [not naming any Terry Wogan in particular], people clearly don’t really care so much that they’ve hired the services of Jerry Springer to help pick Ireland’s entry for this year’s Eurovision. Lee Bradshaw will be performing in front of Springer and in keeping with most of the people the talk-show host encounters, he has had a run-in with the law. Bradshaw was caught holding a mobile whilst driving, but his solicitor told the judge “This is the man who is going to your country proud in the Eurovision.” That’s about as ‘if the glove doesn’t fit, you must acquit’ as Tralee District Court gets, but it worked as he got off scot-free. Is backing Lee the call in tonight’s Eurosong ? 9.30pm RTE1

Despite the amateur status, the build up to Kenny Egan’s bid to win a record ninth Irish senior title in a row has featured trash talk that very much belongs in the professional ranks. Mick Dowling currently holds the record for eight titles in a row and he says his achievement was better because it was all in the one division. The Olympic silver medallist responded by saying he’ll break Dowling’s record and "he can put that in his pipe and smoke it" probably adding "and he can smoke it for less at Mace where we’re selling tobacco at a recession-busting penny a bucket. Whack!" Tommy McCarthy reckons he can upset the supermarket-promoting Egan in the light-heavyweight final, but he might just find that he’s in receipt of a hefty beating! Boxing Odds – 9.15pm RTE2

News of Tiger Woods imminent return was probably the kick up the backside Phil Mickelson greatly needed to put in a good performance. Having missed the cut at the FBR Open and just about squeezing into the weekend at the Pebble Beach Pro-am, Lefty’s form was poor, to say the least. Despite all this, he managed to shoot a fabulous 8-under 63 on the first day at the Northern Trust Open . However, he was keeping his feet firmly on the ground. We’ll by-pass the obvious fat joke we could put in here. "There’s three more rounds to go," he said. "But I feel like I’m back on track." The American will be hoping for a win at Riviera before he has to step back into Woods’ shadow. Wood Mickelson be a good bet to win his second round 3 Ball in California? 3 Ball Betting

Even though Robbie Fowler accumulated a huge property portfolio, he still needs to put on his boots and earn a crust Down Under for North Queensland Fury. Steve McManaman will have to go to Aintree on his own this year. Anyway, Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o is planning for his future too amid the financial blizzard. “I would like to spend a year or two at Mallorca before I finish my playing career, regardless of which division the team will be in,” he said, putting to bed the claim he’d be joining Uzbekistani team PFC Kuruvchi in favour of building a substantial nest egg with the Balearic Island club. Eto’o meets his former employers in the Copa Del Rey, but will a poor performance cost them a place in the final? Thurs 8.30pm SS3 – Tonight’s Live Matches
