Euro 2012 fixtures and results all start off on the opening night of the championships, as joint host national Poland opening proceedings against Greece in Group A. Later on in the same group, Russia v Czech Republic presents a very interesting pairing. We have two home nations taking part in UEFA Euro 2012, as the Republic of Ireland and England fly the flag. Ireland took a tough draw in Group C alongside tournament favourites Spain and the strong Italians. Croatia make up the members of the group and so there is a very tough group stage ahead for Ireland. England were drawn in Group D along with France, Sweden and joint host nation Ukraine. So there is a realistic change for England to get through, although of course their preparations were hindered by Fabio Capello quitting his post as head coach.

The opening Euro 2012 fixtures will have a huge bearing on the outcome of the summer's tournament. England open their campaign against France, and really won't want to head into the second match on the back of a loss. France look England's most likely challengers for top spot in the group, so it is a hugely high pressured match to open with. England move on to play Sweden and then finish their group matches in Donetsk against the Ukraine. The Republic of Ireland get to ease their way into the tournament a little, with a match against Croatia on June 10th.
