Turkish national footballer Hamit
Altintop was born in 1982 in Germany. Considered one of the best players in Turkey,
Altintop is also one of the best midfielders in the German Bundesliga. He is
appreciated most for his powerful long range shots, pace and sharp eye.
Altintop is blessed with a versatility that makes him a good player in
defence or as a striker. Though he hardly plays as a striker, he has
scored often and has also displayed his great skill in tackling and defending.
Hamit started his professional career in local German club Wattenscheid in 2000
along with his brother. As successful performances grabbed the attention of bigger
clubs, Hamit was transferred to Schalke 04 in 2003, where he played in a primarily
defensive midfield role. Hamit played in the Champions League, scoring a wonderful
goal against AC Milan and he also played in the semi-finals of the UEFA cup.
Hamit joined Germany's top-team Bayern Munich for the 2007/2008 season. Altintop also
scored against Aberdeen F.C. in the first leg of their tie in the UEFA Cup competition on 14 February 2008.
