2012 European Grand Prix F1 Betting Info
Things are pretty exciting and tight in the F1 season so far, making for great entertainment for fans, and of course, some extra value in your F1 betting, because things are more wide open than usual. Just nine points separate the top four divers in the Drivers’ World Championship, and still no-one has managed to win two races this season. It has really ramped up the excitement and tension, and the teams are back in action this week at the European Grand Prix in Valencia, Spain.

2012 European Grand Prix F1 Betting Favourite
We are looking at double world champion Sebastian Vettel here as the defending champion. In fact, the German has won the last two races in Valencia, that is two of the four European Grands Prix held there. So he is going to be a strong contender this weekend because he has the race down apparently, and with the McLaren’s looking as if they are going to be struggling, then the path looks pretty open for Sebastian Vettel in his Red Bull. He looked pretty impressive in practice on Friday, and with the car having had some updates to the aerodynamics, which have been designed to add some down force to the rear of the car. Sebastian Vettel, with the prior victories here and the strength shown in the new car, plus there could still be even more to come from it,as Friday was its first real solid testing, then the German is shaping up as a strong favourite. It looks as if the other drivers, in what is still an open field, are going to have to catch him. Vettel is trading at 11/4 with online bookmaker Bet Fred.

Other Contenders
Lewis Hamilton finally got his first win of the season when he took the chequered flag in Montreal, Canada, last time out. That win was enough to push him to the top of the Drivers’ World Championship. That is how close things are. Interestingly, Lewis Hamilton, along with Nico Rosberg, are the only two drivers to have picked up points in all four of the European Grands Prix held in Valencia. So the McLaren driver has good history, but he, along with team mate Jenson Button are expecting a tough weekend. There seems to be a bit of an issue with handling on the McLaren’s and neither driver was happy on Friday, and they look as if they are going to struggle to hold top pace throughout the duration of the race. The practice times didn’t even go that well, and expecting a win out of Hamilton here may be a little bit of a stretch, although he is still trading well.

Fernando Alonso looked a bit more comfortable in his Ferrari though, and will probably sense an opportunity here to get one over on Hamilton. The Spaniard is just two points behind Hamilton in the Drivers’ Championship, with Vettel just one point behind. Alonso has been as consistent as about every one else this season, and surprisingly the Ferrari is going well, much better than expected to be honest. The experience of Alonso may just be the one to push Vettel the hardest for the chequered flag. It looks as if he is going to be able to match the speed of the Red Bull better than the McLaren’s, which seem a bit hit and miss unless they do some big tweaks to their set up.

Can’t take Mark Webber out of the equation here, because the Red Bull driver should take an extra advantage with the modifications to the car. He has got the car behind him, and while probably can’t match Vettel in terms of getting the limits out of the car, good enough for a podium finish. Not sure if the Lotus drivers are going to have enough pace in Valencia, so that would sort of draw Jenson Button into things. He wasn’t happy with his McLaren on Friday, but sounded more confident than Lewis Hamilton that they would be able to sort out issues and be competitive.

Best Outside Bet
Nico Rosberg in his Mercedes looked pretty quick and pretty tidy on Friday. He also has a strong record of finishing at Valencia, and with the way the F1 season is going, could well take top spot here. He has already won this year, taking the Chinese Grand Prix ahead of the two McLaren’s. Based on practice, there could be a strong race to come from Rosberg.
