After the thrills and spills of the recent World Championship, some more exciting darts betting will be stepping up to the oche soon. The next big trip for darts is the 2013 PDC World Cup of Darts, which runs February 1st – 3rd. This is just the third edition of the darts World Cup and this year the event will be held in Hamburg, Germany. Twenty four nations enter the area and the top ranked player from each nation will be joined up by their fellow second ranked countryman. It is England who are the current PDC World Cup of Darts holders and they will be firm favourites to keep their powerful hands on the crown.

England will once again be represented by Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis, the duo which took the title in the final against Australia last term. England are strong 11/8 favourites in 2013 World Cup of Darts betting with online bookmaker Bet Victor, and with Phil Taylor getting his hands back on the World Championship on January 1st (for a record 16th time), defeating the up and coming star of the game Michael van Gerwen, it may take a brave punt to go against the English. They are the top seeds and outright favourites, and Adrian Lewis showed decent form at the PDC World Championships, reaching the quarterfinals where he was taken out by defeated finalist Van Gerwen.

It is Van Gerwen though in his partnership with Raymond van Barneveld who will present the toughest challenge to England’s reign. It was the Dutch (then Barneveld and Co Stompe) who won the inaugural World Cup of Darts back in 2010. It was Barneveld and Vincent van der Voort who went to the semi finals of last year’s World Cup, so they should be there and thereabouts. The dynamic power of Van Gerwen though could be the key to all of their success, as he could really drive on from Barneveld’s steady, composed play. The Netherlands are trading as 6/4 second favourites with online bookmaker Bet Victor.

The two nations that will likely be the most serious challengers to those two, will be Australia and Scotland. The Australians have Simon Whitlock and Paul Nicholson lining up for them and it was they who went so close last year. Australia lost out against England in a sudden-death leg only after a superb tournament. Scotland, as long as Gary Anderson is on top of his game, could also be a good shout for a spot at the business end of the tournament. Inconsistencies have crept into Anderson’s game and he teams up with Robert Thornton. The Welsh duo of Mark Webster and Richie Burnett went to the semi finals last year and could represent a decent bit of value in 2013 World Cup of Darts betting. The top eight seeds will automatically start in round two of the competition.
