It is on to week five of 2013 Premier League darts betting as the ten contestants head to Nottingham. Phil Taylor still tops the table, but has already been held to a couple of early draws in the season, and hasn’t been nailing 180s. He is one of three players still unbeaten so far this season after four rounds, with Michael van Gerwen and newcomer Robert Thornton all defending unbeaten streaks this week. Double world champion Adrian Lewis is still struggling badly at the foot of the table without a win so far.
James Wade v Robert Thornton
England’s James Wade is looking solid in the early stages of this year’s Premier League darts betting. He battled his way to a draw with Phil Taylor last week and heads to Nottingham in go in a confident looking mood. Wade has fired over a 100 three dart average the last two weeks but debutant Thornton has been going well too and this should be close. Could be one of those games in which the players have to settle for a draw. Thornton is coming in off the back of a heavy 7-2 win over Gary Anderson last week and returned a tremendous 109 three dart average. Should be the match of the week, with nothing much to split them, a draw seems a sensible option.

Raymond van Barneveld v Andy Hamilton
The big Dutchman put in a convincing performance last week to beat Simon Whitlock in Exeter. That was his third win from four matches this season and is looking pretty focused. Hasn’t been quite scoring as heavily as he usually does though, but should still have enough against Andy Hamilton. Hamilton was pummeled by Michael van Gerwen last week, leaving him with a record of two wins and two defeats so far this season. Not in bad form, but would still back Barneveld with the darts for the win.

Adrian Lewis v Michael van Gerwen
The miserable form of Adrian Lewis continued last week and he hasn’t recorded a win yet this season. he looks a bit unfocused and not on top of his game at all, and was crushed 7-3 by Wes Newton last week. In three of his four matches this season he has only posted three legs in each, not scoring highly, rock bottom and Van Gerwen should win this one. Michael Van Gerwen, as expected, has adapted to Premier League life very well in his first season. He remains unbeaten with two wins and two draws, taking a tie against Robert Thornton last week. He has the heavy scoring touch and a better eye for a finish at the moment. Should be a win for the Dutchman.

Phil Taylor v Gary Anderson
The progress of Taylor hit a little speed bump last weekend, as he dueled his way to a draw against James Wade. Taylor is unbeaten for the season with two wins and two draws and his usual high standards of scoring has been there. The Power has the highest three dart average for the Premier League season so far, strangely though he has the recorded the fewest amount of 180’s this season of all ten participants. If he starts firing them in, then he’ll take some stopping. Gary Anderson has been floundering this season and was beaten into submission by fellow Scot Roberto Thornton last week. Stuttering along with little consistency, a shadow of his former self. Taylor should capitalise.

Wes Newton v Simon Whitlock
Both of these two have been struggling for points, with just one win each for them this season. Newton did take full advantage though of Adrian Lewis’s major slump last week to record his first win of the season. Will that carry enough confidence and form forward? Whitlock is three without a win now, suffering defeat in his last three outings. So he is just struggling a bit more than Newton, and so would go with Newton who’ll start with the darts.
