Arsenal v PSG Betting Preview – UEFA Champions League 23rd November

Bit game at the top of Group A in the UEFA Champions League even though these two are already secured places in the next round of the tournament. It’s been all too easy for the pair of them as they have collected ten points each from their four games played in the group. The two played out a 1-1 draw when they met in Paris and the Gunners were really lucky to get out of that one with a point. But they will be looking to make a much better impression in this one against the French outfit, knowing that a win gives them top spot and likely a more favourable draw in the next round of the competition.

Arsenal v PSG Betting Tips

So a huge game for both of these at the Emirates on Wednesday. They are both through to the next round already so it is just a matter of who can get through in top spot. The two clashed back in mid September and Arsenal were really lucky to get out of their trip to Paris with a point, because they were outplayed badly in the game. Alexis Sanchez came to their rescue in that one, a game where Arsenal should have been blown away. So Arsenal hold a W2 D1 record over PSG from their three previous European clashes. Arsenal have taken home wins over Basel and Ludogorets so far on it the group, scoring eight and conceding one. Arsenal are a price of 3/1 at Betfair to win to nil. Arsenal have produced a W2 D2 L3 record at home against French sides in the UEFA Champions League so they are trailing that. But the Gunners are running on a three match winning streak in the competition and overall in all competitions, haven’t lost since the opening day of the season. It’s hard to see them losing but as Arsenal are without a clean sheet in any of their last four in all competitions so both teams to score is a price of 7/10.

In the correct score market the shortest priced option is the 1-1 draw at 5/1 with Betfair. Arsenal have good options in the anytime goalscorer market with Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez at 5/4, but Mesut Ozil may be worth a punt as he has four of Arsenal’s last eight goals in the competition. The last time that Arsenal won all three of their group stage home matches was back in 2010/11 and they aren’t running tremendously hot on home soil in Europe having lost seven of their last 17 home games in the competition proper. Arsene Wenger holds a W11 D5 L3 record in games against teams from his home country. So what if these two draw again? Well then it would come down to the higher number of goals scored away from home in their two meetings as the tiebreaker. So a 2-2 would give PSG advantage while a 0-0 gives Arsenal advantage. A 1-1 draw would come down to superior goal difference in all group matches, which would favour Arsenal.

But they take on a PSG side who are carrying some great form at the moment. They are certainly not going to be a big pushover, but they haven’t done particularly well in England. The French club have not recorded a clean sheet in any of their last nine competitive games against English sides, they have yet to beat Arsenal in Europe and PSG have won just one of their eight away games against English opposition in all competitions. So there are reasons not to back them here. Out on the road in the group stage so far, Paris haven taken a 3-1 win over Ludogorets and a 2-1 win over Basel so there is a trend to back both teams to score. This game going under 2.5 goal is running at price of 9/10 with Betfair. PSG have drawn just one of their last eleven Champions League games.

So the French outfit are not running particularly well in terms of travelling to England. From their previous 16 games against English sides they have recorded just a W4 D7 L5 record and the away part of that reads W1 D3 L4. Edinson Cavani should have easily have had a hat trick against Arsenal in the first match up, but was horrendously wasteful om the night. He is trading at 11/8 with bookmaker Betfair to net in this one. Since PSG made a return to the UEFA Champions League back in the 2012/13 season, they have won 20 of their 28 group stage matches (D4 L4) so they are no pushover at all. They have finished as runner up in their group in each of the last two seasons and only once before have won all three of their away matches in a single campaign.

Arsenal v PSG Predictions

Not an easy game for the Gunners even on home soil really. PSG are a tough side and they are running in some tremendous form at the moment as well and the Gunners will have their hands full. Things have been even all the way between them so far and it may be worth looking at another draw between these two and a 1-1 repeat scoreline in the correct score market may well be worth a flutter as well.
