ATP Basel Tennis Betting Favourite
Defending his title in Switzerland and running as favourite this week is Argentine Juan Martin del Potro. He is carrying some good form as well, playing some great tennis on the Asian swing of the season. He won the title in Tokyo. and then at Shanghai he beat Rafael Nadal in the semi finals before losing to Novak Djokovic in the final itself. So the big hitting Argentine is going well at the moment and in a field like this you would expect him to at least get back to the semi finals. Could face up to the consistent Richard Gasquet in the quarterfinals and potentially Stanislas Wawrinka in the semi’s. Going well at the moment and trading well at odds of 2/1 with online bookmaker Paddy Power.

ATP Basel Tennis Betting Tips:
Roger Federer steps out on to home soil this week and will be looking to go one better than he did here last year. He was stopped in the 2012 final by Juan Martin del Potro, which prevented him from winning his sixth Basel title. So he has immense history, naturally being a home tournament of his. Federer goes into the week holding a 47-5 record at the event and he is still vulnerable in the Race To London, sitting in the eighth and final qualification place. Needs a good run in what has been a really difficult season for him. Has only been out once since the US Open, and that was an exit in the round of sixteen at Shanghai. Not backable with confidence.

Instead of federer on home soil, would look to his fellow countryman Stanislas Wawrinka. He is carrying some decent form, reaching the semi’s in Kuala Lumpur and the quarter finals in Shanghai recently. He is always a dangerous floater in a field and put him on home soil and you would expect him to go well again. Avoids Del Potro until the semi finals, so does carry some value in the market. he has been to the semi finals of Basel twice before.

Tomas Berdych is looking to just solidify his sixth place in the race to the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. His form should at least see him go deep in at Basel, because he went to the final of Bangkok, then had to retire in his semi final match against Rafael Nadal in the following tournament. He stepped back out in Shanghai  for the ATP Masters 1000 event but only went to the round of sixteen. If he is fit and sharp there isn’t too much to prevent him making a run to the semi finals.

A man in form and a semi finalist here last season is Frenchman Richard Gasquet. He needs to really run out a good tournament here in order to grab one of the four remaining spots at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. Gasquet really has found some great consistency, reaching the semi finals of Bangkok and Beijing and then landing a title in Moscow. There’s a lot of hard work being put in by the Frenchman to make a late season charge. An outside shot this week because of being hampered by Del Potro potentially at the semi final stage.
