Fed Express to continue strong start to season

The Dubai Tennis Championships, an ATP 500 event is underway this week out in the United Arab Emirates and it is Andy Murray who is going as top seed there. The British number one is back after his month long layoff following his surprisingly early Australian Open exit. The field isn’t at its strongest because there is no Rafael Nadal or more importantly, Novak Djokovic around and it is Murray who is running as 13/8 favourite at Bet365 to go and win in Dubai this week. This is a title which is missing from his trophy cabinet and he will be under pressure from second seed Roger Federer.

There is a lot of attention on world number one Murray in this one after failing in the fourth round of the Australian Open and the heat will be on in the middle east. Interestingly they are not apart in the draw and they would meet in the final four if they get to that stage which eliminates the chance of a Murray-Federer final as we saw in 2012 here, with the Swiss superstar winning the trophy. Roger Federer, who rolled back the years to win the Australian Open 2017 is back for this one and he is aiming for his eighth Dubai title, with back to back wins in 2014 and 2015 being his most recent triumphs there.

Will the Federer resurgence continue though? Federer did have some groin issues during the Australian Open so he may be nursing his way back into this one. This will probably set a lot of people straight as to Federer’s condition to make a strong challenge throughout the calendar year and the Swiss Maestro is trading as 9/4 outright favourite. You have to ask yourself, if Murray and Federer would have met at the Australian Open as they were on course to do, who would have won? Murray was the one carrying the form in the ATP but the appeal would have been on Federer.

The Fed Express has won the last five meetings against Murray and that’s a head to head return which is hard to ignore and therefore there is value on him reaching the final in Dubai. So with Murray and Federer clashing in the draw, what does that leave from the opposite side? It would have to be Stan Wawrinka who did reach the semi finals at the Australian Open let’s not forget, where he lost to Federer. He is the reigning champion in Dubai as well and isn’t a bad 4/1 price. Tomas Berdych has been to the Dubai Final twice before and he was another who got stopped by Federer in Melbourne.

ATP Dubai Tennis CHampionship Betting Predictions

It is Federer who has made the strongest start to the season f all players of course and therefore it is hard not to back him, especially with renewed confidence on his side. He has the form over both Murray and the opposing Wawrinka, along with the successful history in the tournament as well to go and claim another title here. Behind him, Wawrinka is the value outside shot.
