ATP Rome Tennis Betting Info
There is more highly quality tennis to come this week as we are at one of the three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments on clay. It is a wonderful, tree-lined setting and the natural glitz and glamour and high fashion of Rome is clearly evident. Players will be happy to get to the regular red clay this week, after struggling on the much-maligned blue clay in Spain last week. So while there were some big upsets last week, normal order should be resumed as the big guns regain their footing.

ATP Rome Tennis Betting Defending Champion
Novak Djokovic is the defending champion of The Internazionali BNL d’Italia tournament, and this was part of his blistering season last year. He hasn’t reached the same highs in 2012 though, as the only tournament he has won so far, has been the Australian Open. Granted, not a bad tournament to only win, but last week saw another earlier exit for the world number one, as he lost to Janko Tipsarevic in Madrid last week. That was his fourth defeat of the season, so the titles have been harder to come by for him. Still, he sounds in confident mood himself, insisting that he has had a good season so far, and that he is mentally and physically strong. You wonder how long it will be before he does pick up a title. He is too good to keep out of the winners circle for too long surely. The slower courts in Rome will help him and has a big point to prove ahead of the French Open. Djokovic goes at 5/2 at Totesport.

ATP Rome Tennis Betting Favourite
Rafael Nadal, understandably is the favourite in Rome, despite his failure on the blue clay in Madrid last week. The blue clay was a lot slicker than the red stuff, there was less grip and not many of the top players had something good to say about it. Nadal lost in last year’s final here to Djokovic, but the Spaniard is eyeing up his sixth title at the event. His most recent triumph came in 2010 , and he holds a magnificent 31-2 match record in Rome. He is going to be the one to match, because he has raised his game in the clay court swing of the season. That is where he is at his best, and you can write down last week’s early exit off to the surface. When Djokovic and Nadal fail to get to the semi final of a tournament, you know something is up. It was a big factor. Nadal is trading at 5/6 with BetVictor.

Other Contenders
Roger Federer really is the man of the moment in the ATP, as he lifted another title on the weekend. Federer took the title in Madrid against Tomas Berdych over three sets. He was joined on court by Will Smith, who handed over the suit he wore in Men in Black III to the Swiss superstar. Federer is in red hot form at the moment, and has leapfrogged over Rafael Nadal into second place in the world rankings. A big step forward for the hungry Federer who is still eyeing up a return to the number one world spot. This is the twelfth time that Federer has entered Rome and yet he has failed to ever win here. He has lost in two finals, the last time back in 2006, and the Fed Express holds a 20-11 match record. He isn’t naturally at home on clay, but his mastery of the slippery blue stuff in Spain last week should have given him a lot of confidence to challenge hard for this one. The slower courts may help him out even more with his timing, as it takes away the threat of the bigger servers.

Andy Murray has a 5-6 match record in Rome, and after missing Madrid last week with an injury, it will be interesting to see how he goes. Naturally he is trading back behind the other big guns in the field. No-one matches Nadal on clay, Federer is in top form and Djokovic is the world number one. Murray still has some ground to make up at the moment. The Scot did not make it past the quarter finals of Rome or Monte Carlo, his only two other outings on clay so far this season. While he is still one of the big four, and we are unlikely to be picking a winner outside of the top four, Murray is the least likely of the bunch.

Best Outside Bet
The draw is set up for projected semi finals of Federer v Djokovic and Murray v Nadal. The most sense here in picking out Spaniard David Ferrer. He is a clay court expert and he is in Andy Murray’s quarter of the draw, so stands a very solid shot at the semi finals here. Had a decent season but still is a big outside shot, simply because of Nadal’s dominance. Ferrer goes at 50/1 with SportingBet.
