Ronaldo to stay at Madrid looks value

This wouldn’t be a betting opportunity to let slip. Late this week, Cristiano Ronaldo allegedly has reported that he wants to move away from Madrid after he was accused of tax fraud in the country. So splashed all across Spanish papers on Friday was the rumour that CR7 wants to get out of dodge and the reports are suggesting that Ronaldo has told Madrid president Florentino Perez of his desire to quit the club.

Ronaldo is currently with Portugal at the Confederations Cup and amid the bombshell reporting, bookmakers were quick to slash the odds of Ronaldo on making a move back to Old Trafford. Before Friday, Ronaldo was a 7/1 shot at Coral to have Manchester United as his next club but now that has been trimmed all the way down to a 7/2 price.

It has to be noted that any time there is a slight whiff of a rumour that Ronaldo wants away from the Bernabeu, Manchester United’s name is always tossed into the hat. Ronaldo, still one of the greats in the game obviously, is 32 so that is a bit of baggage that he will be carrying around in any potential transfer. There is of course, the hefty transfer fee that one club would have to dip into in order just to secure that one player.

Someone would obviously have to pay big for him. You will have the likes of Bayern Munich 16/1, PSG 16/1 and Manchester City around the 20/1 mark to be Ronaldo’s next club, but it is worth sticking on Ronaldo to stay where he is. He is a 1/2 price at Coral to still be at Madrid after the summer and that is where the safe money is.

He’s certainly at the top of his game right now and isn’t going to lower his ego to end up in the MLS at the moment, despite New York having been mentioned. Lionel Messi has been in all sorts of tax troubles and he has stood by Barcelona and vice versa. There’s nothing to hint that Ronaldo’s situation would be different. Really question who could afford his transfer and his wages and where would his ego allow him to play. It all points to a stay in Madrid
