Surprises are great. They are even greater when they involve amounts of money coming to you that you had never expected. That is what happened to a Leeds man during the week who placed a football Treble. The punter thougth that he had won 16p, but it turns out that he had landed £5,000 instead.

Jason Parmer had placed a £5 treble shot of Atletico madrid (11/10), Bayern Munich 7/10 and Leicester all to win their matches during the week. With Madrid and Munich in control of their respective matches, Nottingham Forest were leading Championship leaders Leicester during their match, so the punter decided to Cash Out his bet placed at Betfair and walk away with a tiny profit.

But, he got a call from Betfair telling him that he had won £5,000. The punter still had decided to call it a day with a return of £5.16 but because he was the millionth Cash Out user at the betting site, Parmer got a nice gift to celebrate from the betting exchange.

Stunned Parmar said: “I’m in absolute shock. When Betfair first called me, I thought they were ringing to say there was a problem with my account!”

The highest Cash Out came in at a whopping £22,285 won during a match between Bayern Munich and Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League back in November 2013.

Betfair started their cashout scheme back in May 2013, and it allows punters to claim winnings during the match, or consolidate a bet which looks as if it going to go down.

Betfair Sportsbook Brand Director, Mark Ody, commented: “The Cash Out product is unique to Betfair and we are delighted our ‘do you don’t you’ experience is one that is so popular with our customers.”
