Near miss on bumper FA Cup acca

One goal. One goal from Bolton would have done it. That is all the one punter at online betting site Betfair was waiting for on Saturday, in order to pull off a life-changing accumulator through FA Cup betting.

The FA Cup fourth round threw up some massive upsets during Saturday’s action and a punter was in the prediction-zone having made some seriously bold selections against the odds in a fivefold acca with a £10 stake. All the punter needed was a positive result for Bolton at Anfield in the final game of Saturday’s round of matches.

The punter had already landed some big upsets in the acca with Middlesbrough’s victory at the Etihad against Manchester City for a price of 12/1 in the match result. The punter called Reading’s away triumph against Cardiff (match result and both teams to score) for a price of 4/1.

There was a big call as Leicester upset the odds with an 11/2 win on the road at in-form Tottenham in their FA Cup clash at White Hart Lane (match result and both teams to score). Then there was another big call of an 11/1 result (match result and both teams to score) as Crystal Palace beat Southampton at St Marys.

All that was needed to complete the mammoth odds wager was a goal from Bolton. Nerves would have been jangling with the match poised at 0-0 heading into the final minutes of the game. If the Trotters had bagged a goal, there would have been over a £1 million profit coming from the wager. But Bolton  failed to get a goal on the board, and in fact never managed a shot on target in the match.

The cost of Bolton not scoring a win at Anfield, was a very costly £1 million for the punter.
