Bournemouth v Manchester City Betting Preview – Premier League 13th February 8.00pm

Manchester City have started to put the pieces together a little more convincingly as of late. With back to back wins having been put on the board and progress in the FA Cup, things have been looking a little brighter for Pep Guardiola’s men, who are looking a more convincing challenger for a top four finish. They head off to the Vital to take on Bournemouth who can’t stop leaking goals at the moment and who have conceded at least four goals in each of their three previous Premier League games against the Citizens. Is there more trouble ahead for the Cherries’ defence?

Bournemouth v Manchester City Betting Tips

The Cherries are in a bit of a slump as they have managed to go winless in their last five Premier League games (D2 L3). They are going into this one having recorded back to back losses as well and this is no easy game for them to bounce back in. Their defence has crumbled badly since the turn of the new year and this doesn’t bode well for them in going up against a side who has scored freely against them before. Bournemouth shipped 6 goals against Everton last weekend and in their last three meetings with Manchester City in the top flight, Bournemouth have conceded a whopping 13 goals. Bournemouth lost 4-0 at the Etihad earlier in the season and that was the exact score by which this corresponding fixture last season as well. So at Coral, a Manchester City 4-0 correct score returns a price of 20/1 if you expect the Citizens to coast again, and it’s not unreasonable. There is a price of 8/15 on the game going over 2.5 goals.

The Cherries have also failed to hit the back of the net in three of their last four against the Citizens now and therefore a Man City to win to nil option at Coral is a decent 7/4 poke. Bournemouth have lost each of their three previous Premier League matches against the Citizens, netting just the one goal in the process. Three times before Bournemouth have been involved in a Premier League game on a Monday and they have lost all three of those. In contrast, Manchester City, have won 10 of their last 13 (L3) played on a Monday. Bournemouth have conceded 16 goals in the 2017 calendar year in the Premier League, four more than any other side has shipped in the period. The Cherries are currently on a four match winless streak at the Vitality too (D2 L2) so it is a big ask of them to pull out a win in this one, especially with them having taken just one clean sheet in their last eight games now.

Manchester City seem to be steadily going up through the gears and have posted back to back league wins for the first time since December last year in the top flight. In their last away game they smashed West Ham 4-0 (there’s that scoreline again) and remarkably their upturn in form has been without Sergio Aguero, who has been warming the bench. Young Gabriel Jesus and Aguero are joint 5/6 favourites in the anytime goalscorer market for the trip to the Vitality. January arrival Jesus has scored three goals just 188 minutes of action so far for City. So Manchester City are on an unbeaten stretch of form against Bournemouth in the league, never having lost to them in a league meeting. Given the goals that they have put on the board against them recently and the weaknesses that are clearly there in the Cherries’ defence, this could be a fun afternoon for Guardiola’s men. Away from home this season in the top flight, Manchester City have posted a great W8 D0 L4 record but three of those defeats have come in their last five away games (W2 L3) but their better performances recently should guide them to three points in this one.

Bournemouth v Manchester City Predictions

There should be three points being collected by the Citizens you would imagine. They are looking like a free-scoring side again and their defence has been improving a little bit as well. The chances that Bournemouth have been giving up at the back to opponents lately has been massively damaging and City will take full advantage. Over 2.5 goals and it may be worth continuing the trend of City to win to nil in meetings with Bournemouth.
