Premier League champions-elect Chelsea mauled London rivals Arsenal at Stamford bridge on the weekend with a 3-1 win. That was a big statement by the Blues who had lost limply 3- to Arsenal earlier in the salon at the Emirates. The win saw Chelsea move twelve points clear of Arsenal in the title race, which leaves their closest challengers being Tottenham, who are a whopping 9 points back of the Blues themselves.

Chelsea have been in stunning form and with a point at Anfield against Liverpool in midweek and then the win over Arsenal, it has seen the Blues come through a tough point in their fixture list and the path ahead looks clearer for a bit as they face Burnley, Swansea, West Ham, Watford, Stoke and Crystal Palace before their next severe test in hosting Manchester City in early April. The way Chelsea are going, they look unstoppable and who knows, could have extended their lead at the top by then.

Boylesports decided to pay out early on Chelsea winning the Premier League on the weekend after they had torn apart the Gunners. BoyleSports spokesman Liam Glynn said: “Chelsea still have 14 league games to play but they look unstoppable and any of our customers who backed them to win the league can collect now.”

Just to put their favouritism into context, Tottenham are 16/1 to win the title after taking a  narrow 1-0 win over Middlesbrough on the weekend while Man City are 11/1. Chelsea’s win over Arsenal completed a miserable week for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger who had seen his side lose at home against Watford in midweek. With Arsenal having fallen out of the title race, bookmaker Coral have rated Wegner at 8/11 to not be Arsenal’s manager on the first day of next season. That was his seventh defeat in eight visit to Stamford Bridge.

At the other end of the table, things are fascinating with just the two points separating the bottom five. Sunderland managed to bank a huge win at Crystal Palace on the weekend to give themselves a lifeline, while Hull sprung one of the surprises of the weekend as they put a 2-0 home win on the board over Liverpool. So there were positive moves there and with Swansea having won three of their last five as well, combined with the tanking form of Crystal Palace and reigning champions Leicester, it’s a massive battle for survival going on down there.

In the Boylesports Premier League Relegation market Sunderland remain 2/5 odds-on favourites to take the drop this season, with Hull, thanks to the positive strides having been made under new boss Marco Silva, have been moved to 4/5. Crystal Palace are now even money to drop with Middlesbrough and Swansea both at 6/4. Fallen champions Leicester are in a huge mess and sliding badly, leaving them now in at 9/4 to be playing Championship football next season.
