Golf is a notoriously tricky market to land big returns from because the fields are so huge. But one punter from Dublin hit bookmaker Boylesports heavily on the weekend, by backing the winner at Sawgrass. The Irish punter, who has stayed anonymous, landed a €60,200 win on a bet with 500/1 odds.

The punter had backed Korean golfer Kim Si-woo to win with a massively bold bet of €100 each-way on the 21-year-old to win the tournament at odds of 500/1.

So with the stake at €200, which is risky in such a competitive market, came good as Si Woo Kim held off Ian Poulter to land the bettor a whopping €60,200.

Liam Glynn, BoyleSports spokesperson said, “Hats off to the Dublin savvy punter who picked Kim Si-woo to win the Players Championship at the massive odds of 500/1.”

He added: “The lucky punter certainly knows their golf and no doubt they will be able to afford plenty of four balls at the K Club after netting a whopping €60,200 from their €200 bet.

“We can certainly say this time that they got a hole in one over us and a little birdie told us that they are already enjoying spending their winnings.”
