British Amateur Boxing gets further support from BetFair

Online betting exchange BetFair has came out in support of British Boxing, as they came to an agreement with the British Amateur Boxing Association (BABA) to become their official gaming partner. This means that some important funds will be going to the association, which will help secure and fund British boxing interest. The deal means that BetFair will be sponsoring both the Men and Women’s GB boxing teams, and in return, members of BABA will be appearing in BetFair social media content. There is already a viral video on YouTube featuring Anthony Joshua, Tom Stalker and Luke Campbell, all of which will be participating at the London 2012 Olympics.

It has been a good year for British Amateur boxing and there are realistic chances of medals at the 2012 Olympics as well. Six of the Great Britain team are ranked in the top five of their respective weight divisions, and the team collected a healthy amount of medals at the last running of the World and European Championships. This is not the only link which BetFair have had with British Boxing. They sponsored the GB Amateur Boxing Championships last year, and are also sponsors of the reality TV show Prizefighter.

The highly popular betting exchange, which has won many awards for its operations, also have major partnership deals with Manchester United and have recently teamed up with some big names of British sport to drive forward their new breed of ambassadors. Former England rugby star Will Greenwood along with Michael Vaughan, Paul Nicholls and Lee Dixon are part of the new face of BetFair. BetFair have also been active in protecting the Olympics against betting related corruption, by joining other bookies in signing a statement of intent to protect the integrity of London 2012 and betting practices on it.
