Buveur D’Air heads Champion Hurdle 2017 market after Faugheen withdrawal

Min misses the Arkle as well

Cheltenham Festival

There was some big news ahead of the Cheltenham Festival 2017 this week as trainer Willie Mullins declared that both Min and Faugheen will miss the Festival because of injury. That is a big blow for the Champion Hurdle in particularly, with the mightily impressive Faugheen running as a favourite to go and win back his crown in the race in March.

With Min having targeted the Arkle as well for Mullins, that is the third big blow for the trainer after Annie Power was pulled from the spring festival at Prestbury Park as well. You aren’t going to be losing big players like Min and Faugheen without a bit of a shake up in the markets and it has left Altior as strong 8/11 favourite in the Arkle on the opening day of the Festival, being challenged most closely by Mullins’ Yorkhill.

In the Champion Hurdle 2017 betting, it is Nick Hendersons’ Buveur D’Air who is running as 3/1 favourite now for the title in the antepost Cheltenham Festival 2017 market.
