Camelot leading 2,000 Guineas 2012 Betting charge

Camelot and Trumpet Major big movers for first Classic of the season

Camelot seems to be stretching his legs further and further out at the top of the pecking order for the 2012 2000 Guineas. This is one of the big highlights of the new flat season, as it is the first Classic of the season. 2,000 Guineas 2012 betting always draws a lot of attention, but it can be a tricky result to pull out of the bag, as horses start feeling their way into the new flat season. The 2,000 Guineas is the first of five Classics for the season and goes off on May 5th at Newmarket, and all of the attraction so far has been on Camelot. The Colt has been steadily working his way towards the Classic, and after a thrilling win at the Racing Post Trophy back in last October, Camelot is not only the clear favourite for the 2,000 Guineas at the moment, but is also the top contender to land the Derby as well.

Camelot’s 2,000 Guineas cause was helped when his stalemate Nephrite got things wrong at the Loughbrown Stakes recently, with the latter drifting out in the 2,000 Guineas betting odds. For the three year old Camelot though, the Colt has been pulled into as short as Evens with Ladbrokes, but can still be taken for some positive ante-post 2,000 Guineas betting value at 11/8 with Bet365 at the moment. There is a huge amount of potential in this youngster and he could set his stall out very early with success in the 2,000 Guineas 2012.

Top Offer, one of the leading 2,000 Guineas prospects alongside Camelot, was supposed to put in a show at the Aon Greenham Stakes a couple of weekends ago, but trainer Roger Charlton pulled him out because the ground was too soft. Top Offer is an exciting prospect therefore skipped his warm-up and has been training in Newbury instead. With the prospect of the ground being heavy for the Greenham Stakes, Top Offer was reserved with the 2,000 Guineas so close. There was no point pushing and risking the unexposed Colt to circumstances that wasn’t going to benefit his run in the Classic.

Other names trading among the main contenders for 2,000 Guineas 2012 betting, is Born To Sea and Trumpet Major. Born To Sea has been near the head of the market for the 2,000 Guineas for a while now. However, he has been quiet, especially in the shadow of Trumpet Major. Trumpet Major scored a great win at the Craven Stakes at Newmarket recently, and subsequently the bookies sat up and took notice, slashing his odds for the 2,000 Guineas betting. Trumpet Major tracked well, and produced plenty of speed in response to being pushed on for the finish. The Richard Hannon trained Trumpet Major makes for a very shot on May 5th.
