Magpies to pressure Brighton in title race

Championship Betting

Cardiff v Newcastle Betting Preview – Championship 28th April 7.45pm

The Magpies have to win this one to keep any faint hopes of winning the Championship title alive. They go on Friday night with a four-point deficit to make up to leaders Brighton, with just two games to play, if the Seagulls win on Saturday it won’t matter what the Magpies do in this one. So all that Newcastle have left is hope and they can enhance that by getting a win and putting some pressure on the leaders ahead of the final weekend.

Cardiff v Newcastle Betting Tips

Well Cardiff are just fluttering around in mid table and they have nothing left to play for this season now, so are just seeing the season out. They haven’t been in great form with just the three victories in their last eleven league games now, but those three victories were each record on home soil. This season Cardiff have produced a W11 D4 L7 record at home, so they have done alright and the Bluebirds have lost just one of their last ten on home soil in the league competition. Cardiff lost 2-1 at Newcastle earlier in the season and they did lose their last home match against the Magpies by the same scoreline as well. A Newcastle 2-1 correct score wager at Coral is a price of 15/2. The Bluebirds are on a nine-match winless streak against Newcastle in the league, losing all of those actually. This could be entertaining as Newcastle have to push and both teams to score at Coral is a price of 8/13 while over 2.5 goals is well worth a punt as well at 8/11.

The Magpies need a win in this one to cut the gap down to leaders Brighton to just the one point. The only thing that would do would put some pressure on the Seagulls for their game on Saturday. If Brighton win that, they will be champions regardless of what Newcastle do. Newcastle are just in a bit of patchy form at the moment though as they have produced a W1 D1 L2 record in their last four league games played. A big 4-1 home win over Preston on Monday saw them book automatic promotion, however, away from St James Park, the Magpies are winless now in their last four away games (D2 L2) but now with promotion secured, there is nothing left for them to lose now, so they may as well throw the kitchen sink at this one. In the Coral anytime goalscorer market, Daryl Murphy and Aleksandar Mitrovic are 13/10 joint favourites, with Ayoze Perez, who netted a couple against Preston, is a 7/4 shot. Expect an open game.

Cardiff v Newcastle Predictions

Newcastle Away Win: With promotion secured, Newcastle can go out and attack this one with nothing to lose and that should see them get the three points on the board. Cardiff are average at best but it’s worth backing both teams to score in the match.
