Chelsea v Burnley Betting Preview – Premier League 27th August

The last time that these two met at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League, the Clarets took a surprise 1-1 draw. After their big win against Liverpool last weekend, Burnley may be quietly confident of taking something out of this trip. Chelsea have needed late goals in both of their league openers this season to bank a 100% record and they will be expecting to extend that winning form at home against the newly promoted outfit. Can they deliver?

Chelsea v Burnley Betting Tips

Chelsea have gone unbeaten in their four previous Premier League encounters with Burnley. They have posted a W3 D1 record against the Clarets in that sequence of games. They last met at Stamford Bridge in the 2014/15 season and the Clarets did get out of there with a point in a1-1 draw. Chelsea have started this season with a 100% record from their two games but they needed late goals to see off both West Ham and Watford in their campaign. But overall, a positive start for new boss Antonio Conte. The wins over West Ham and Watford were both by a 2-1 scoreline and a Chelsea 2-1 correct score punt is running at 9/1 to happen again. Given Burnley’s scoring record against Chelsea and the weakness in Chelsea’s defence, it could be a decent punt.

The last two occasions that the Burnley were in the top flight, Chelsea went on to win the league title. The Blues have a good record against newly promoted clubs, they have have lost only one of their last 45 Premier league games against newly promoted sides, that defeat was against Bournemouth last term though. Diego Costa has scored two goals in two league games this season and both were winners against the Hammers and the Hornets. That is a seven goal total that he has netted in nine Premier League appearances during the month of August. You can back Costa at a price of 4/5 in the anytime goalscorer market. It may be worth a long punt on 9/2 goalscorer shot Branislav Ivanovic who scored in both games against Burnley in the 2014/15 season. Antonio Conte is now unbeaten in 29 league home matches as a club manager, winning 27 of those as well.

Burnley opened their season with a 1-0 home defeat against Swansea which was a little bit of a surprise. But to their credit they managed to bounce back and take a 2-0 home win over Liverpool, despite just having 19% of possession in that game. The Clarets have scored in all but one of their last eight matches against Chelsea in all competitions and you can have a flutter on both teams to score at a price of 5/4 with online betting site William Hill. You can go over 2.5 goals for a price of 7/10. Burnley have actually shipped just the one goal in their last five Premier League games but they haven’t done particularly well in London. They have earned just two points from eleven previous games there and have shipped 28 goals in the process. Andre Gray is a 7/2 price to score in the match.

Chelsea v Burnley Predictions

It is likely that Chelsea will find a way to win in this one. They weren’t good against Watford last week but still managed to land the victory. Burnley got lucky against Liverpool and that’s not likely to carry them for a second week running and take down Chelsea as well. Look for both teams to score as the Clarets do have a good scoring record against the Blues, but shoot for the home win. That 2-1 Chelsea win has appeal.
